Once I saw this pop up in WK, I realized the word pun of Gintama, the history of the Japanese translation, everything. Dead. I went on a research binge right in the middle of my lessons in search for answers to everything whirring in my brain.

いるか is an Ateji (jukugikun) I believe.
If you want to impress some Japanese people, learn the Kanji for things like あり、ゼミ、はえ

Sun-day and Moon-day are easy enough to remember. The rest you can do with a mnemonic. On Tuesday there is a fire, which you put out with water on Wednesday, trees then grow from the ashes on Thursday. Then you have a party on Friday and spend all your money, Saturday you’re so hungover that you just spend the day going to ground. That’s how I remember them anyway! =)

I like that method, I could have used it when I was learning days of the week.
I learnt Friday as ‘pay day’ and Saturday as ‘your day off to do the gardening (hence ground)’. Wednesday is wet like ‘water’ and Thursday is teaming with ‘trees’.

It’s an old one, but I moved to japan without much prior knowledge, so when I realized the ikouka card means literally 行こうか (shall we go?) that was neat
