I see what you mean, but I disagree with that statement. From my dictionary:
①月以外の夜空にきらめく天体
Which will include planets and (as @seanblue said) things like comets, but it’s a different meaning.

So… passive form is new enough for me that I have to ‘work it out’. As I understand, this setup means the employees are the one ‘doing’ the verb, i.e. relying (or in this case not relying?) on アリア社長? So the fact that it’s a negative, with まったく, means they aren’t reliant on him at all?
Aye, I read it like that, though somehow I completely failed to notice how much the okurigana had been abbreviated. Oh, something felt off about that sentence, but I couldn’t quite put my finger on it.

Uh… ok? Not entirely clear on why “means the set of all things that are not the moon” rules out it being used to refer to a specific element in that set. Like, say, a planet.

Because saying a given animal is a mammal does not mean it’s a cat. You can describe a cat as a mammal, but without context you cannot go in the other direction. Same with the current situation.
I still wonder what is the purpose of saying ほし instead of 惑星. Maybe the second one sounds too technical?
ねば is a more formal version, so yes, it is a variation. There isn’t much about it (it’s quite plug-and-play, just replace one by the other) but here’s a random explanation from the interwebs:
The context is we’re talking about Aqua, which is most certainly a planet.
They’ve used 惑星 as-is in previous chapters, including the very first page. Maybe it’s to fit with the fairy-tale tone of this chapter?
Ah, but that was from a formal announcement right? So it makes sense that they would use the correct, technical term.

When I first saw it, I thought it meant something like “The boss is so mean!”
Obviously that was incorrect!
But did anyone else find it a red herring at the start of the chapter?
I really had no idea what it was supposed to mean before reading the chapter. Now I guess it means It’s tough being the president.
It really was a short chapter. But it had so many different emotions mixed into it, I really liked it.
I kinda cheated and read the chapter last week since I knew this week would be hard on me because of a huge deadline in the office. A really cute chapter, really enjoyed it. Full of aaaaaaww. Loved to see the comments to what president was packing before leaving and see him coming back hugging the tiny doll. He looked so adorable 
.
