I don’t remember. Maybe I need to go back and re-read the chapter where Grandma makes an appearance.
I guess that undines are generally kind of like pop stars in terms of the length of their career.

Huh. I thought it said that too, but I checked her introductory chapter, and it just says she served for over thirty years. Doesn’t even say she was the longest-serving Undine. Maybe it was mentioned in a different chapter. Japanese Wikipedia concurs that she was the oldest as well.
Pretty sure that the very first chapter specifically makes the point that Undine are like idols.
