That looks way faster than romaji without a learning curve.
I use flick because I feel like it has better kanji suggestions, and also it helped me out immensely when I was starting to learn hiragana; I used the flick keyboard because I hadn’t been acquainted with the romaji input method, and in the long run I feel like it helped me learn to read and write hiragana faster and retain the knowledge.
That being said, when I was in Japan on a school trip, my Japanese professor (who is native Japanese) was using the romaji keyboard on her phone, and I know that a lot of people in Japan use Microsoft or Google IME to type on their computers.
Tl;dr: either one is fine, as long as it lines up best with what you are trying to get out of using the keyboard

I directly installed the Japaneese language onto the phone so I can switch between English and Japanese to help study, you learn a lot of things using your phone in Japanese . It gives me the extra learning and a flick keyboard which is very eazy to switch between, either in the Japanese or English language.

I also just switched my phone’s language to Japanese. It’s really helpful, especially with reading katakana. There are still alot of settings I can’t read yet haha

I use flick because you have to actually know what the character is as opposed to just typing it out with letters, it helps in the long run with kana recognition in my opinion
I’ve been using the flick keyboard lately. The only problem I found is I have to pause when typing any of the あ kanji twice in a row. Instead of writing あたたかい I ended up writing あちかい because tapping it twice cycles through the vowels.
I have the same problem. The only solution I found to that is to flick in any direction for the second character and go back to あ. For あたたかい, I press あ, then た, then I swipe to ち but I go back to た before releasing, so I have あたた, then か and い.
I like the flick input a lot! Once you’ve used it a bit, I feel you just get a muscle memory for what direction each kana is. I came back to studying Japanese after over a year of not touching it, and I can still often flick the right kana without even thinking about it (in fact I have to think more about where the key is than which direction to flick).
That said, I always use romaji input for reviews. Too troublesome to keep switching back and forth from an English keyboard or typing English on a Japanese keyboard.
Wah my biggest problem still is typing out words that use the sokuon or combo hiragana like mya & nya while using the flick. It’s not easy for me at all.
Not really? You’re not supposed to press and hold but just flick to the direction with the correct “vowel”. I don’t often even look at the kana.
I might be going mad and missing something but are people forgetting that the iPhone has built in Japanese keyboards for both flick and romaji? Both of these are excellent and can be used with English settings and also can be switched to in milliseconds.
Honestly everyone learns differently so it depends on the person but I do see where you’re coming from
I tried but I switch between languages on the regular and I’m used to this layout. Like I use a huawei swype keyboard, but I still love to type it all out with two thumbs.

I’m using this one
