Answer was wrong, but solution looks very similar

Hey guys, sorry I need a little help understanding why my answer was marked as wrong.

I’m pretty much a beginner here so it is probably really obvious. I’m doing the Kanji for Enter and it’s asking me for the reading, to which I typed:

ni yu u to get: にゆう

It told me I was wrong and the solution is showing: にゅう

My question is, what is the difference and what should I have typed?

From the FAQ:

Why is my reading answer for 入 (にゅう), 上 (じょう), 九 (きゅう), 力 (りょく), 十 (じゅう), or 女 (じょ) being marked incorrect? I’m putting in the right answer!

Most likely, you are putting in a big や, ゆ, or よ instead of a small one. See the difference?

じよう = jiyou
じょう = jyou

きゆう = kiyuu
きゅう = kyuu

りよく = riyoku
りょく = ryoku

じゆう = jiyuu
じゅう = jyuu

じよ = jiyo
じょ = jyo

The difference is big, and it’s important to get these correct. For example, じゆう means “freedom,” so if you wrote that instead of じゅう, you would be saying something completely different.

First of all: please read the FAQ and the Guide.

You should learn kana before starting WK, otherwise you will be having difficulties with the readings. にゅう is written and pronounced as nyuu, にゆう is written and pronounced as niyuu.
