Hi everyone! Week 1 of My Love Story!! is up:

My motivation being through the roof by realizing I can read “Absolute beginner” Manga pretty fast right now, I am joining last moment this book club!!
I dont know if it will be really useful to join since I will probably rush through all of it tomorrow in a go, but I hope I can either catch up to latest week fast / find few useful things and post them here.
Edit : okay well I just checked and the book is 5 levels higher on Natively than what I have read before… I might have spoken too fast.. We will see

(Personal opinion), the guidelines don’t strictly state what is or isn’t okay as far as potentially triggering content, but this book has some super dark themes/scenes in it. That said - you should absolutely read this one regardless of if it gets nominated. I’ve tried the author’s other stories and thought most of them were not good (sorry CSM fans) - but this and Lookback are both fantastic. Although this one is a bit confusing/intentionally ambiguous at times which can be made more confusing if you’re learning the language.
I have read it already in my native language but thought to give it a go in japanese! I wont submit it after thinking about it thougn, I would much rather read it on my own / aside of other things. I still need to give Lookback a read though, never looked (back lol)!
As for CSM I can understand it’s not for everybody (Fire punch though ?? come on!)

I read that one in English, and found myself rather… underwhelmed by the ending.
Yeah, it happens often with manga sadly (a lot of times because the artist is burnt out or the story went in weird places due to editor / extending the story choices), that’s why I try to enjoy the journey and not the destination lol.
I’m not sure if there’s been a discussion on dark themes before. The book club certainly already read ハピネス which is not very light. Maybe we could just add a section in the nomination template for known content warnings?
I will hop on it in a few months, I want it to not be too harsh of a read 
. Will use the club!

It’s super cute, the chapters are short and mostly self contained, so if you miss something in one it shouldn’t be a problem going forward. Gal is also college aged, which is a nice change from a lot of manga at this level.
