It’s currently up for nomination over in the BBC, so if it does end up being read it’ll be a few months til then at least! (Currently reading Hitori Bocchi, and Lookback has already been picked as the next book!)

I would love to read these too when my skill level is there. I remember getting Pokemon Blue for Christmas in the 90s and collecting the cards, so it would be some good nostalgia.
Then there was the mass hysteria from the parents. everyone bringing the cards into class and the principal making an announcement on the loudspeaker “starting tomorrow all Pokeeman cards found in school will be confiscated!”

I started really late with the Pokemon series. I wasn’t allowed to play video games growing up 
My pharmacist actually gave me his old DS in the 2010’s. Pokemon was one of the first Nintendo games I played (along with Animal Crossing), and I was hooked. I have a bunch of the new Switch Pokemon games in my “games-I-must-play-pile.”

Fire Red was my first videogame so I’ve been playing for ~20 years or so and I have to say, while it’s got tons of issues, Legends Arceus is the most fun I’ve had playing a pokemon game since I was a kid! Highly recommend playing it when you get the chance

Yeah, I was gonna say. We’re only on Gen IX - by comparison, Gen IV is barely middle school.

I remember getting Pokémon Blue as a small child, one of the first video games I owned. I was still pretty much learning to read at that stage lol. Pokémon Blue and a kids encyclopedia were my main resources I think. I think I was particularly impressed after seeing a babysitter playing it and leaving a house and then, you were in a whole new place. There was a whole world? 5 year old me was sold.

I see. I chose Bulbasaur and named it “Hediondo”. It means “smelly” in spanish.

I just set the BBC thread to ‘Watching’ so I won’t miss it when nominations come up again - I’m definitely interested in reading this too! I’ve been playing Pokemon since the the original Red version back in the 90s. I was in 6th grade and kept having to steal my older brother’s game boy in order to play!
