Episode 2 of ちゃんと吸えない吸血鬼ちゃん, definitely a different vibe from the prior shows but it is a bit 可愛い and I’m cool with that. Also watched episode 2 of がんばれ同期ちゃん, which was pretty good as well - I would probably have liked to see that series expanded into longer episodes, but they’re nice little vignettes.
An ep about Okinawa being awesome! I actually recently did a project about Ryukyuan culture and folk music for a class, so my background knowledge made this video a bit easier. But now I wanna visit! And 90+ year olds doing physical activity like working out and farming sounds crazy

Episode 3 of ちゃんと吸えない吸血鬼ちゃん, it’s feeling easier than the previous shows but I’m not feeling it as much. It’s not bad, and I don’t feel like giving up on it, but it’s not quite so captivating. Also watched episode 3 of がんばれ同期ちゃん, and enjoyed that quite a bit for all the five minutes or so that it was. Definitely can feel sorry for 同期ちゃん, here’s hoping things turn up for her.
・GTA NewTown - Day #8 (9h) x1.5 (he stream too much!)
There’s a lady in the same gang as Kanae and her name is ぽぽ. Her 特徴 is saying ぽぽ at the end of sentences or in the middle of phrases. It’s very catching everyone’s saying the same thing as her when she says something.
Not feeling great since yesterday- so been mostly cooped up on my couch. My mind is still working though, so I finished Lesson 28 of Level 2 Pimsleur Japanese. Just 2 more lessons to go finish this level.
I really loved hearing about Ryoma’s experiences in both America and Honduras. Having a passion really helps to be a great motivator for learning a language.

日本語の聴解のためのPodcast : 29 min - testing out this new (for me) podcast, the host explains grammar and vocab in japanese occasionally as she goes along. A little advanced for me but a good challenge.
Bite Size Japanese podcast : 52 minutes (+ 2 repeats, so like, an extra hour of the same material)
I listened to the episode 一日の過ごし方 three different times this week because I could sort of follow along, and I understood generally what the podcast was about, but I struggle a lot with the transitions between phrases, it’s hard for me to understand how she bridges one topic to the next. It’s very different from my level of comprehension with, Nihongo con teppei’s beginner podcast, where I can really follow his train of thought. also it’s hard to focus on the entirety of the 30 min episode… my brain just gives up.
To follow up Riku-Oh I started La Grande Maison Tokyo which seems fun, especially as the first episode takes place throughout Paris. There is even one scene in a small “restaurant” which is actually a simple fish and chips shop that I’ve eaten at before, lol.
I also saw a Japanese friend and she told me about 朝ドラ, serialized dramas with 15-minute episodes that are on the NHK every morning, which I didn’t know about before. We watched one of the episodes of ばけばけ. I enjoyed it! But I should say that there was a lot of dialect so it was a bit difficult to follow.
Otherwise this week I’ve been following team Japan at the winter Olympics and have been particularly taken with the figure skating team, so I’ve been watching the team videos on Instagram this past week too.
Wishing you all a successful week in your Japanese studies.
Grinding out those listening videos in prep for my test!
Also, the way they talk about the Japanese way of learning kanji sounds so strict and awful. I wouldn’t want to do 20 tries per kanji for homework (hand. hand dying. chop it off)
