It’s “the other side of the park”. She ran out the opposite side of the park from where they’re standing - 公園 and 向こう are both nouns, and you need a の when you’re joining nouns together.

OK, so I decided that since we’re ending on page 29 again (Yeah, I know it’s just a copy paste that @StevenSB forgot to edit) I’d read through everything we’d already done again, since I had some spare time. Thought it would be good to read it again while I still have a good chance of remembering what the general meaning of the story is, so I’ll see the words having idea what they mean already, even the ones I don’t specifically remember. I had to look up a few things, but much better in general on the 2nd pass, hehe.
Anyway, started reading this weeks, and I’m a bit confused about the older sister’s name. えな calls her 風香 （ふうか）I think, but she introduced herself to dad last week as あやせ.
So, I’m guessing ふうか is her (what we would call) first name, and あやせ is the family name?
OK, this was pretty hilarious. I actually laughed out loud when ふうか came round the corner and saw what よつば was doing.
I was a little disappointed though. I thought she was trying to climb up and talk to the workman
I was pretty happy with how well I managed to reasd this weeks though. Obviously it’s a lot easier than the first couple of weeks, but I’m getting used to the very casual sentence endings and such so just I’m reading and understanding those a lot better than at the start.
I actually kinda like the fact that よつば realised she’s not meant to go with strangers though. FUnny though, that she’s trying to sprint full power, and ふうか is just like jogging along beside her to begin with

I found this exchange interesting. Fuuka apparently thinks Yotsuba is at least in 1st grade (perhaps because she had climbed halfway up a tall pole?) Yotsuba hesitates and then replies with the completely irrelevant “I like Daddy!” as if she has never heard the term, なんねんせい.
Didn’t have time to do a whole translation but this week was nice! It definitely was way easier than week 2 or whatever that week was that was surprisingly hard.
Correct. (Though I tend to say “given name” and “family name” to avoid that whole first/last last/first confusion.) Given the formal language of how Fuuka introduced herself to Dad, you could probably assume that she was telling him her family name, though I grant that’s not a sure thing.
Dang it! I don’t know if anybody noticed it before, but I left a similar mistake in the week 2 or 3 thread when I first posted it. Seems like I’m always making copy-paste mistakes like that! Also, this is another reason I keep posting the threads on Friday night, because it’s Saturday night and I’m just now seeing the replies to this thread, haha.
I’m glad everybody’s having fun so far! I haven’t commented so much about my own reading progress, but I’m understanding everything much, much better than I did the first time around. I know I’ve improved since I last read this, but it’s also easier to figure out the dialog when you already know what’s happening in the scene.
