If someone could add me to the
Participants list, that would be
great and l would be grateful.
My phone won 't let me do it.
I am going to try to read at least
3 stories, and l’ll try for more.
Not having my computer service
right now means having a harder
time looking up vocabulary.
Too broke for Read-a-thon snacks.
All l have is ice cream. Not the best
snack for reading. Guess l’ll save it
for breaks.
I added you to the list!
Thank you!!

Alright, you know what – I’m in!
Not sure what exactly I’m going to read, but I have a lot of 未読漫画、so I’ll just go with what I’d be in the mood for when the time comes ![]()

|---|---|---|---|---|
| Manga | ケロロ軍曹 | 01:05:11 | 17 | |

I was looking at my books trying
to decide what l would
read Saturday. I have a
book of Japanese
stories for beginners.
It has eight stories in
it, and l’ve read two of
them. So l’ll see how
many more of those
stories l can read on
Saturday. The book has the
story vocabulary, too,
which will be a huge help.
Well, no one told me no to a Wednesday start, so I’ll be starting us off! I’m way early for the actual Equinox (and it feels like it - brr it’s cold out where I am!
). (If I’m too early, feel free to yell at me - I can take it!
)
I’m still not quite sure what my goals are, given that other than a little bit of time spent playing FF2 in Japanese, I really haven’t read anything since the end of January… I guess primarily I’ll be trying to catch up on the things I’d intended to read in February…book clubs plus my yearly goal of reading a page a day in a Japanese copy of The Hobbit. Also I have instant ramen waiting for me for lunch, so I’ll read at least 1 chapter of Naruto, and since it wouldn’t be a readathon for me without Detective Conan, at least 1 chapter of that too. Ok, there, I do have goals!
My 24 hour period will be 2026-03-18T16:00:00Z→2026-03-19T16:00:00Z. Starting now! ![]()
Thank you so much ![]()
Ok so final answer, I’m going to TRY to join and read more Umineko to see how my speed compares to last time (quite possible I won’t manage as much total time and as many total characters, but benchmarking char/hour and trying to see if I’m any higher will still be nice). However, I’m still a mess so I honestly don’t know if I’ll manage it or not. Yesterday I had a sudden onset of the worst migraine I’ve had in years, a health problem I thought I had pretty much entirely solved, so we’ll see what happens…
I’m also not 100% set on my time because I’m playing off how I feel and what happens but since weekdays tend to be better for me for this than weekends and I like to break the 24 hour period into 2 days, I guess my first choice would be to start around Thursday evening.
1 hour and 10 minutes to read 10 pages in The Hobbit. Slow…but I’ve finally finished chapter 1! I’m still 36 pages behind where I had wanted to be on March 18, but still, with such a hard novel, I’m pleased to have made it this far. Breaking for my instant ramen lunch, and then I’ll switch to Naruto! ![]()
Congratulations! That’s a big achievement in itself ![]()
Thanks! I was given the book at Christmas, and I knew it would be the hardest thing I’d tried to read yet. It’s definitely a confidence boost that I can read it, even if I am slow! ![]()
Aaand I’m caught up on the Card Captor Sakura book club!
It took 1 hour 35 minutes to read the last two chapters of V9 and the first two chapters of V10 (total 173 pages). Time for dinner and then jump into catching up to the 骨ドラゴンのマナ娘 V1 book club.
I think it’s a good time to make a plan for myself as well. First readathon, so I’m looking forward to participating!! ![]()
My plan is straightforward. Read as much as I can of the books that were always on my reading list. That means mostly all the physical copies of よつばと! that I have, catching up on ムーミン谷の彗星 of the Children’s Novel Club, and also reading the first volume of Frieren that somehow ended up on my bookshelf.
Not sure how far I’ll get, but I’m excited to take part in this event!

frieren bookclub exists for vocab sheets or have questions

How did l miss Frieren book clubs?
probably forgot about them… I know I mentioned them in the past but based on the level of reading it seems you are at… the Japanese version might be a struggle…
however… ![]()
natively link for info:
primary bookclub link (scrolling down takes you to the weekly for the first 1) and a little further takes you to the vol2-9 (currently reading 9)
I guess l need to order the first book
and try it. If it’'s too hard, then it will
be good motivation to study harder.
if you are still working on readers… it’s going to be way above your level…
however… the bookclub helps a lot though if you are willing to tough it out …
feel free to post any questions you might have… people are still active
