We did it!! And phew, our ojisan survived too. :ring_buoy:

In the snowy book we escaped super quickly and actually went back down a different route because the club was over too soon :joy:

Haha :face_with_peeking_eye: yeah on my first read I was like n oooh were going to get a game over

So I’m not sure the best way to do this - I don’t want to give away that we won since there is always a poll. So Icreate a poll, and I need to choose scenarios we haven’t seen. I chose 108 since it’s where more end material in the book starts (and those are in all books and normally interesting), and this time I also chose an alternate ending

Yes! In the first club even all members finished plus one, so we had a 120% Survival rate which was cool. As soggy said book 2 we solved so fast we went back for more and that ended in a long torturous route  I feel like the defining character of this club was it was very imaginative and lively in participation. It’s been so fun with you all! :star_struck::star_struck:

OMG yes, I was like, don’t we get to vote on decorating :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

So just to check, we are officially done with this book? We won’t be doing another route?

We haven’t before so in the past this is how we’ve ended but let me know if you have ideas / suggestions.

Based on WeepingWeeb having gone through one of the others and mapping it out I’m guessing there is at least one other independent long route, but it might take a lot of dead ends to find it as a group. I’ve always just declared the books finished for myself and haven’t actually explored other routes but maybe someday I will

I wanted to ask what you all thought - I was planning on making a vote on the club’s main thread at the end of this stage (it’s just Shannon who hasn’t seen the ending) for whether to vote right away for the next book (with the club starting in 6 weeks for everyone to get copies) or wait 6 weeks for the vote so we have a longer break. I’m happy either way!

Gotcha; I was mostly asking for Natively-tracking purposes, haha, so anything works for me. Will the next book be another book in the same series? I recall you mentioning having some sort of secret plan for an alternative you were working on…

Yeah, the first time it felt funny but I just mark it finished on Natively after the club!

Haha yes there was a secret plan, I’ll put that on the list, too, thanks for reminding me!

I feel like I’m more than a little late to the party but we did make it through the book. :spouting_whale:

Have we decided which book to do next? I think I got rusty with the reading because I wasn’t sure why the boat didn’t come to get us in one flare. We had to wait and build a treehouse and an sos sign and fire a second flare I think?

But anyway, glub glub, I did make it back to the club sometime.

You are a survivor!!

The boat was heading in the other direction (getting further away), so our young hero thought they didn’t see it and fired the second flare. Then there was a rather abrupt shift in both topic and pacing, so don’t feel bad about that! Yes, then we resigned ourselves to waiting, built a treehouse, and made a big SOS out of rocks on the beach. My memory is going… am I making this up, or I think potentially we saw another boat and made a smoke signal with a fire on the beach?

I’m writing a post now on the main club thread :eyes: see you all there.

Scenes 108-109

I’m going to watch a documentary on the Lapita, that was interesting. I knew a little about this, but it got my curiosity sparked! I enjoyed the survivor stories as well, although I wish there were more details. I imagine there is a book worth of a story behind each one.

Pacific ocean all routes diagram! Albeit it very fuzzy

Interestingly it looks a lot more linear than the rainforest

Nice work :star:

So do I see that right we ended up on a huge shortcut when we went 51 → 71 → 63? If only we’d ignored hitting the island at night and gone back to sleep we would have practically read the whole book :face_savoring_food:
