Page, uh… 21 (I think?) is giving me deja vu. :slightly_smiling_face:

Summary

Meanwhile, on this week’s episode of “how did they translate 殲滅 this time?”… they actually used “extermination campaign”.

Ch. 62

Finally I started noticing ~かねない N2 grammar points! Well, at least I think this is it. Somehow they always in some distorted form…

Page 49 made me smile. A bear and matryoshkas. Balalaika is under the desk I guess. Or maybe a nuclear reactor!

Looks like this chapter has no certain ending point. Great temptation to just keep reading…

This is the last panel, though

Ch. 63

Sometimes main characters don’t communicate at all, and there we have the information about the panda safely passing three hands!!!
Also why Mustang had this picture out on display! Though I admit the picture is lovely, and who doesn’t love a cute kitten’s pics, especially when there is no internet ¯_(ツ)_/¯
And new characters! At this point I feel like I know about everyone in Amestris, and some chunk of people in border contries as well!

Ahh, wanna see this moment in anime (I’m a bit behind)

It’s Brotherhood episode 32. Or according to the way it’s listed on Netflix (at least for me), it’s part 3 episode 6. Just before the six-minute mark.

I’m on ep. 28, so not far. We’ll see!
For me some scenes in manga hit harder, than in anime. Maybe because I have time to linger and really think about it, or because my imagination runs free, or just animation is lacking. True Envy’s form was much more impressive/terrifying in manga for example.
Also there was an absolutely out of plot scene with Hohenheim in ep. 27 I think, instead of scene in the traveling coach. My friend with whom I watch anime was looking at me with clear WTF in her eyes, and I was like: “Don’t look at me, I have no idea :see_no_evil_monkey:

Yeah, the horror elements are almost always lost in the anime form which is why Junji ito has never been adapted correctly. There is just something about the strokes in a still image that make it so much scarier

It’s finally time to meet Olivier Mira Armstrong.

The fact that every significant character randomly decides to head north at the same time feels like it strains credibility a little.

I went to check if I remember correctly an other Armstrong’s sister that we met, and see if there are more siblings, and… caught a bunch of probably spoilers again! I never learn! :face_with_steam_from_nose:

Further spoilers about the family I think?

Anyway, our pal is an only boy and has two more middle sisters that we will not meet. Or maybe will meet in volume 20? I’m not sure, and afraid to investigate. They are in between, I wanna see them!

The wiki says there’s an image of them in the volume’s omake, though I’m not spotting it in my copy. Either way, the characters themselves don’t show up at any point.

Page 144, I don’t think I can read ジュラルミン any more without thinking of Yotsuba’s bear. (Though Viz, for some reason, translated it as “geralmine aluminium”. Did… did they not even consult a dictionary on that one? I mean maybe duralumin wasn’t in the dictionary because it used to be a trade name, but still, what they’ve come up with is barely in the ballpark. Googling that phrase gets only a single result on the entire internet, and it’s someone’s summary of this volume. Though I suspect after I post this post, there’ll be two results. :face_with_tongue:)

Page 176, after that cackling departure, it’d be funny if the back half of the train caught up again after the engine stopped.
