金 instead of お金

So I think this example sentence should be changed since it uses okane instead of kin. I know what you’re supposed to be focusing on is the highlighted word in blue but I read it as okane instead and mistook it. Please change the example sentence to one that uses the intended word!

What even is that?

I’m not sure what you mean by

Wouldn’t this be something that script maker needs to change, rather than WaniKani? The example sentences are not designed to be used for anything but reference after you do the lessons.

金 is in the sentence as well, so they are highlighting the wrong kanji, apparently. Not sure what the purpose is.

EDIT: I see now that this is in the API/App category, so I guess the request was intended to be for the script maker… There should be a thread for that script though. I guess the wording just confused me as to what was being requested.

it’s a script. i used it, too, it’s pretty good… but it has bugs, one of them is what you’re seeing above: it picks example sentences for the wrong vocab items, because it doesn’t understand grammar, while wk futilely tries to teach grammar here.

It seems like it’s the right example sentence (it’s an example sentence for 金) but the sentence just happens to use the kanji 金 two other times as well.

Yes sorry that was my bad. Should I post in that script’s thread instead?

probably highlighting the first occurrence of the item in question, regardless of if it’s the correct one in that sentence.

i wonder if that can even be fixed easily without adding manual exceptions, or blowing up the script with tons of grammar checks.

yeah, let the maker know directly

Yeah that’s probably it, I’ll have to be a bit more careful from now on. Isn’t wanikani’s fault!

yeah, can’t be helped. just look at the sentences carefully and have the override script handy.

Don’t worry leebo, it’s my fault for not being exact. Even I didn’t know what was going on, I just knew that it was wrong and so decided to post here.

If I had money, I would like to buy the gold Rolex that Kim Jong-un has.
があったら、正ウンとおそろいの、のロレックスをかいたいとおもっています。

I think this is a case of Tofugu being too clever and the script maker not anticipating this (I mean seriously, who would ever write Kim Jong-un’s name in kanji? -_-’ ). They made a context sentence that contains the 金 kanji multiple times with different readings, and the script not knowing that, just highlights the first occurrence.

Well I moved it to this category after seeing the problem. :stuck_out_tongue:

Welp, thanks, I don’t even remember where I posted.

I’d rather think the script coder didn’t anticipate this. I’d rather say to Tofugu, just give me more context sentences with various difficulties. やるか!
