Evenings on the weekends are better for me because I usually have practice in the mornings.
Evenings of which time zone?
I’m in Japan
So, morning EST… then…
Hmm… maybe those of us who were interested need to post our timezones, and our preferences of Saturday or Sunday, Evening, Morning, or Afternoon, or “don’t care”. (relative to our individual timezones)… Compared to GMT.
I’m EDT, aka -5 GMT. I would prefer afternoon or evening.
I have a habit of calling my timezone EST even when we’re on daylight savings time.

I am at CDT currently, -6 GMT.
Whenever should be fine for me currently.
-3 GMT. As long as it’s Saturday or Sunday, I don’t really mind when it happens.
Cool. For now I’m making a doc…
It’s looking like this:
Or should I make a Google Sheet and link it for us to put in our preferences?
EDIT: I was going to translate them all relative to my time… (but forgot?!). IE: Time - 1 hour later, Sig, 2 hours ahead. StarLi - OPPOSITE. XD
Eastern Summer Time.
Still, one habit I have noticed is that Americans never specify that it’s American Eastern Standard Time. Australia has an Eastern Standard Time too. And Central.
Japan is GMT+9.
I’m in +10 (that’s EST, ya know?) but since I lack a mic at the moment, all I’d do is listen, so don’t base it on me.
This is a cross-time zone meeting planner. Might come in handy (though it doesn’t allow us each to enter our own data - you’d still need to collate it first).
You do?! I had no idea. I’m Canadian… perhaps you meant North Americans? XD
Tokyo being 14 hours off seems right (matches my memory). I have a friend from Victor Harbour/Melbourne, too, and we used to chat at weird hours a long time ago… Miss the guy.
I’ll check out your link. ありがとうございました。
EDIT: The thing itself looks complicated, and I’d need to know everyone’s cities… however, there’s a thing at the bottom to show my timezone event as everyone’s timezone: Event Time Announcer – Create New Event I’ll use this when we’re closer to figuring it out. ^^
EDIT 2: As a test, I filled it in as if it’s this Saturday at 9pm EST/-5 GMT: Event Time Announcer - Reading Haruhi
With a name like “AnimeCanuck”? That’s crazy talk.
Victor Harbour is in South Australia, though?
I tried entering in a random group of Sydney, Tokyo, London, Los Angeles and New York, and it kinda seems like the best time to suit that particular group is like 11pm-midnight GMT, which puts it morning in Japan/Australia and afternoon-evening in America. Evenings in Japan are the wee hours of the morning for America, so that may not be awesome.
Yeah, I know. : /
Depends if late nights for some or early mornings for others work better or not. Hence my “preference” chart to try and figure it out.
Here’s a Google Doc…
You should be able to input your own. Hope it works!

What?
I just assumed the world was smart enough to have unique identifiers for all time zones, but apparently not…
EDIT: According to Wikipedia, yours is AEST. Guess we were first.
Thanks. I see you put it in the doc as well. ^^
Haha. XD
Oh, and seanblue, feel free to copy the format of the doc for コンビニ’s read aloud session too.
Thanks, but no need. We’re just doing the same time as we did with Kino since a lot of the regular attendees are continuing with Konbini.
Ahh.
What time is that (so maybe we don’t overlap)?
So far, it looks like I might have to suck it up and do Saturday morning (my time)… 11am here would be 8pm in Japan… WRONG! Hmm…
Or if when the other half of the people respond and add their timezones, there’s an even split, we could have 2 read-aloud groups… Hmm…
We also had two times, but the one that’s continuing is mentioned in the Konbini home thread.
I did the thing with the spreadsheet. Thanks for making it.
The one that’s continuing should be Japan times 9:30 pm I think?
Thanks guys (@seanblue too). I found it via the main Intermediate thread…
8:30am for me. Ick! XD
Which makes me think means I have my time guess wrong above for if I did it at 11am my time…
EDIT: 11am here would be 1am that evening (technically the next day) in Japan.
Also neat to see they have the “in your timezone” thing as a link up in the コンビニ OP. Nice!
I’m going to have at page 2 (page 6, in reality) in a few minutes… for as long as my brain can handle. XD
YAY! XD
Haruhi is hard enough I’m tempted to jump ship for Konbini. orz
