I have the next two volumes sitting beside me here so I’m all set to continue whenever we decide to. I did vote for a two week break just because I could easily read through 秋の牢獄 in that amount of time (ten pages per day if I start tomorrow).
I voted no break because I already started reading book 2.
But it doesn’t matter that much to me. It’ll just mean waiting slightly longer before I can post questions.
Dang, I actually wish I’d voted no break – if we start it right away it would be possible to finish the whole book just before the new year rolls over.
So change your vote.
Oh shoot! I had no idea that was possible.
Alright, it’s looking like no break then. I’m just a bit worried that there aren’t that many people voting in this poll…
In other news, I am now halfway through volume 10 (and thus the third arc) and it’s my favorite so far, by a large margin. As people have mentioned before, the world building is great, and I like the characters. It’s also hinting at greater things to come. I couldn’t resist and checked the title of the next and yep, it’s exactly what I thought. Then I “accidentally” checked the title of the last arc and gdi why did I do that. Massive spoiler again. Also, again, author, why is that a thing.
It’s only been a day…
You have me so curious, but I’ll be good and wait (a very long time) until I reach that part of the series before reading the title.
But it was the weekend. Are you telling me people do other things than visiting the WK forums during their freetime?
I have to read 11.5 (!) books to stop being in a spoiled state.
I can now tell you that arc 4 spans books 13-21 (it’s a long one!)
I voted to continue the book club but I can’t vote for when you should start volume 2 because I’m still very far behind (haven’t read much for a long time because of work :x)
When I bought the first volume (about a year and a half ago), I first checked on Wikipedia JP that I was getting the right one (since book number goes back to one for each major arc) and got spoiled by the table of content of the page x_x (even with my low level, I understood too much )
omg I had no idea that the series was so long. What have I gotten myself into
Volume 25 is coming out in December!
(Also I think I will be ok to start Vol 2 straight away. I finished 4 of 6 books over the weekend)
Which makes me realize I will never catch up on this series.
Ah sorry a bit misleading! I finished 4 of 6 books (that I had already started). In reality, it was about 2/ 2 and a half books worth.
I figured that, but it’s still a lot!
Wait… aren’t you also reading 狼と香辛料? It has 22 volumes.
I’m on volume 2!
I gave up on it halfway through the first volume. It got a bit tedious for me and was a little too hard to justify the time investment.
Agreed with @seanblue, two books over the weekend is darn fast.
It takes me 8-10h to read a single book, so I would have to do basically nothing else than read to manage that.
Yeah, it’s my favourite as well. Looks like you caught up to where I am currently and pretty fast. I’m only at the start of vol 10. In truth, I wanted to take a break at the end of the last arc, but how can you stop when things like that are happening.
I’ve pretty much gotten used to that Japanese LN authors tend to reveal the entire premise of a book in the title. If Tolkien had been Japanese, Lord of the Rings would have been called How a Hobbit and His Friends Traveled to Mount Doom and Destroyed the Evil Ring and Defeated the Bad Guys or something.
I’ve still not gotten over when they do it in chapter titles, though. Sometimes you can get the entire plot of the book just by going through the table of contents.
That was my plan too and it also flew out the window
Can confirm that for book 11. I usually avoid the ToC for that reason, but I’m getting curious about the timeline, so I checked to have a quick overview. Mostly, the point where we are and where I expect the 4th act (so book 13) to start are far apart, so I wanted to check if things start moving faster. But nah, looks like things are still moving along at the same speed. I wonder if there’s going to be a time skip at the end of book 12 or something?
