I fell in love with the story through the anime and bought the first ten volumes in Japanese around three years ago. I’ve read through the first volume and a half or so, but life got really hectic at that time so reading it got put on pause for a while. I’ve been focused on reading and translating light novels recently so I haven’t come back to it.
I’m glad you gave me a reason to add it to my weekly schedule! I’m excited to finally get to the rest of the story.
I’m basically in the same boat as AshesIntoFlame. I watched the anime when it came out and really enjoyed the setting and characters. A real shame that it kind of just ended in the middle and hasn’t gotten another season…I started it in Japanese a while ago, but life kind of got in the way. I’ve wanted to get back to it for a long time, so I’m looking forward to reading with y’all!
I read it, re-read it multiple times watched the anime multiple times and bought special edition Japanese volumes to get Cards etc. (Will post some pictures later)
I love the story and one of my other closest online communities is where we discuss all things Yona
In the poll, you might want to make it clear whether the Vol 1 is JP or ENG version Also, love the fact you added the final option for “Click click polls”
@AshesIntoFlame@Rain32 Glad to know you guys loved the anime! I planned to rewatch it but since I’m rereading it I put that on hold. Hopefully I’ll understand a bit more of the anime without subtitles after going through the manga in Japanese
@eainge Do you plan to continue it in English while we go through it in Japanese? O:
@KyokaJiro I’ve bought some special editions too! The Yona calendar is in front of me as I type and I got the next volume’s special edition on preorder. The only thing is I haven’t reread it in years so I’m looking forward to re-experiencing the story.
I watched the anime with Italian subtitles (I am Italian by the way).
I like a lot the characters, and I enjoy the story. As with every other anime out there that I like, I setted up as usual my mental note of one day reading it in Japanese.
Little I know that the day after I would find you guys.
So “why wait, why not start right now” I thought. And this is why I ended up here
一緒に素敵な冒険をしよう!
I think it’s pretty clear by my icon I’m a fan of this series… I’ve been WAITIN for this club!
I’d love to be a part of a read-aloud! Of course, the character I’m itching to read for most isn’t introduced for quite some time Jae-ha surprisingly. I love Shin-ah most but he’s not exactly the most… exciting character to read for but there’s so many cool characters in the meantime that I’m excited just thinking about it!
I don’t know who I would want to read for the most. Probably Kija but they’re all so wholesome I’d be happy to read for any of them I feel like I’d be too embarrassed to read for Jae Ha tho I laugh easily so you wouldn’t even hear words just a bunch of asdkfjaoiefjl
So seven people said yes to the read-aloud sessions which is good if most of us are able to attend every week. If we can find a time that everyone can agree to, we’re good to go
I think either Friday, Saturday, or Sunday is good so that everyone has time to go through the week’s reading on their own first. Time-wise, for me I’m good Fridays evenings anytime usually, Saturday afternoon and evenings, and Sunday mornings PST.
It took about 12 days to arrive after I ordered it from Kinokuniya, but I think the time that was more on the Post’s side, not on Kunikuniya’s. It cost more than half the book price to ship, so if I like the series I’ll probably buy more at once next time I order, or maybe just get the digital edition.
@Kraddak I’ve never done one, but I don’t have much Japanese speaking practice so I think this would be a good experience for me
@Kraits From my understanding of kinokuniya, if it’s not in stock they’ll order it from japan first then ship it to you. That’s why I put that asterisk and said it’s best to buy from their physical store. Sadly I don’t live near one so I tend to just buy everything from CDJapan.
I’m doing the Haikyuu read-aloud offshoot, which is at 12 PM PST. We usually take about 1-2 hours, so any time after 2 PM and I could just hop over. Fridays and Sundays also work nice for me.
I’m on central/middle european time (soon MEST/CEST), so maybe it will be difficult to find a time.
Not sure about time difference. But I read someone is italian, so we are probably on the same time zone!
For me saturday or sunday sounds great. Hopefully we can find a good time, I’ll try to attend every week then!
