Thoughts while reading

???

Wouldn’t it maybe have been enough to just, you know, be there and be seen by others?

I… guess so? That’s not what an “alibi” is though.

Or you could just pretend to be a completely unrelated person by being far away and being seen by others while being far away, you know. Seems easier, less spotlight-inducing and less painful/dangerous.

Why would you need this super special shield-piercing tool though if the goal is just to light explosives? I guess it’s a good time bomb too, but it seems like a bit of a waste.

Okay, I guess seeing it like that it’s not completely off.

I guess you can’t easily magically move it?

I guess she means that it would absorb the mana she’s using?

Self-assured Monica is my favourite Monica

Looking forward to some Silent Witch action!

Me: I’m ready for some action!
The book: How about some feelings instead?

Poor Casey.

Also, considering how she’s getting more backstory than other antagonists, and considering how long she’s been by Monica’s side - I sure hope she’ll somehow stay a character and not get the worst penality the book has to offer. Yes, I’m talking about (gasp!) dropping out of school.

Huh. That’s… really nice of them? Especially considering that it’s expensive, dangerous and against the law, and that there seems to be nothing that Casey’s family could give them in return.

Except maybe a daughter turned assassin to kill a prince.

Phew. Okay, she explicitly asked to do a thing that her father seemingly didn’t want to burden her with. So I guess the dragon defending wasn’t necessarily a plan to get an assassin (or something similar) out of the deal.

I like that Monica decided that it’s impossible for her to counter the 螺炎, so she’s instead going to rewrite the barrier that Louis protected specifically against tampering. Poor Louis!

The whole sequence with Monica fighting against the plants and then summoning the gate was great!

(And now, imagine being a certain prince, being so close to this and not seeing any of it )

If only you knew!

Yeah!

That was a really nice last chapter!

I’m back from travelling and from getting distracted by Chinese stuff (I hope), and decided to make this the first club I’m picking up again, because I left off in the middle of this chapter 5 weeks ago. I watched the anime version before I left, so it wasn’t really a cliffhanger, but my memory is getting hazy when it comes to the reveals in the first half of the chapter. Did we ever get the answer who Casey’s mysterious benefactor was, the one who got her into the school?

Yeah, I guess Casey was really overthinking things and accidentially pointing giant arrows at herself in the process. Another thing that wasn’t really necessary was throwing away Monica’s tea. She’d already achieved maximum friendship status right at the start when she promised to teach her horsemanship, because Monica just isn’t that picky with friendships. Fake-rescuing her from the tea crisis solved a non-existing problem.

Now I’m done with this and all in all, a satisfying conclusion. Good to see Monica kick ass once in awhile.

Answer

I assume it was someone from that bordering country whose name I don’t remember anymore. The one which feared that war would be declared on it if Felix becomes king.

Hm, that seems kind of likely, but it leaves the question of whether this person knew she was going to use per position as a student to assassinate Felix. I’m keeping it on the “unresolved mysteries” pile for now.
