By the way do you know what happens exactly if you lose the tournament early? You mentioned that:
But what does that mean exactly?

If you reach the palace before the end of the tournament, there are less guards and many won’t respawn.
That was also alluding to that if you lose you don’t get the scenes with Dan or the masked man since you’re out of the tournament.
Ah ok so there was a time element to it but it wasn’t critical. I did notice that the palace was nearly empty when I arrived and suddenly there were guards everywhere, I didn’t realize that it was because I had been too slow.
That said the fights with the guards were trivial and many dropped healing items so it wasn’t a concern. If anything getting a few levels on the way probably helped a lot with the boss fight.
Haha fun, I had forgotten about it too.
You have to reset your brain to 1998 I think, you will enjoy the game more fully!
I liked that too. I also believe that one NPC talked about the tunnel going to the fountain.
Oh too bad! The reward is OK, but the face of the customer that was casually watching the fish when you pop up, is priceless.
It just keeps opening and closing, that’s why sometimes you have some rapids. I wasn’t so lucky with the timing and had to wait for a while.
Typo, or on purpose? ![]()
Ooh, I didn’t connect the dots on the water gate. Makes sense.
Week 10 is up!
Funnily enough I just want to add since a few people called it annoying, I have seemingly limitless patience for the sort of storytelling done through things like fighting the water current and I wouldn’t mind if the path was a little more interestingly laid out but I still thought it was a fun idea and that was one of the parts I liked most about this week, especially since you’re on a time limit of sorts so it’s kind of intentionally annoying to get slowed that way ![]()
I also thought it was fine, but I was struggling a bit with the controls, at times I would get stuck in arches and whatnot which made it annoying. And yeah, not much to do overall.
I didn’t comment on that but I thought that having parallel actions that were actually asynchronous and running on a timer was really surprising. I’m used to JRPGs handling this with scripted key events that move the focus from one place to the next, not being interrupted in the middle of something to go somewhere else and then come back. That made the situation a lot more stressful but also a lot more interesting and realistic.
Lots of stuff happening this week. New characters, old characters, and this mf:
Also the sign in アヴェ is neat:
We split up, and nearly get ourselves caught!
This week was a test of my reading speed I failed with all the auto scrolling text. Also I have CD on 4x speed to increase load times aaaaand it might make it worse. Thankfully we have a script! Most of it was しゃーかん anyway so no big loss.
Also we got some emotion from Fei! And more people criticizing Fei for his avoidant tendencies. I really do like that the game repeatedly points out that Fei’s behavior isn’t helping him or anyone. Characters being messy is fun when the narrative doesn’t baby them too much.
Side note: you can equip the Wedding Dress onto Bart:
Bart infiltrates. Some of the guards are annoyingly persistent. Then there’s these guys:
Ramsus’s flash back is interesting…he knows someone/maybe Fei himself. He also knows someone who has a son named Fei…I wonder if Fei is tied to Solaris in some way? It would explain Citan hanging around.
Speaking of…I’m beginning to question if Citan is as smart as the game wants us to believe…him and Sigurd talking in an open lobby below scaffolding… ![]()
ALSO apparently the game locks you out of going back to the Yggdrasil at the stopping point, so I’ll edit the OP with save stop options for non-emulating players.
Some of the interactions with the guards were quite funny. I remember one going like “Oh hey there… WAIT WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE??”
