And just to make sure, this の in both sentences I asked about are the same thing right?
The map is obtained in volume 2 page 72.
It gets filled out in volume 2 pages 86, 87.
There's some foreshadowing regarding the map in volume 2, page 105.
Here's a comparison of the part Mia points out.
Essentially the same thing, yes. Just serving slightly different functions. (One serving as a substitute for a noun; the other turning a verb into a noun). But I’m pretty sure it’s the same の just with different hats
Ah jeez, thank you for providing all those images too, you really didn’t have to. But I appreciate it
Ah ok, actually that clears it up for me quite nicely, thank you.
Ch 62 story comments
We learned something interesting here. John’s memories start around the same time as Shaun’s. Going back to the questions I had earlier, it seems like Shadows really do develop their personalities by interacting with their living dolls, and Kate is weird for having already had one.
Also, we are deep into season 2 of the anime, and we have still not seen what happens at the end of season 1 I’m beginning to suspect that what happened at the end of season 1 actually comes after all the events of season 2 in the manga. Or maybe the end of season 1 was an anime-only plot point? I’m interested to see.
About the anime
I didn’t watch the anime adaption, but I heard that the end of the first season deviated from the manga (which is partly why I didn’t bother watching it). So there’s a good chance it was anime only.
About the anime
Yeah, that makes the most sense. Thinking about it more, I’m not sure how those events would fit after the events of season 2, which does seem to follow the manga.
Do we have a start date for the next volume?
I am operating under the assumption that we will start right away next weekend.
@MrGeneric is correct.
Usually this far into a series, I post the new volume thread last minute on the day we start reading, without a break between volumes.
As I prepped the volume 6 thread yesterday, I thought I should post it early this week. I’ll likely post it later today in a day (or two).
On a completely unrelated note, I finally burned the “Sun” radical from level 1. I kept writing “day”. Sheesh XD
Happy to hear!
I was behind on most of my other clubs so I stopped to wait with this one. I wanted to chat about the plot and missed the book club environment.
Theory
I don’t know if I’m reading into this a bit too much but it feels weird that ケイト would just high five エミリコ like this, when they haven’t done anything like that before. I think maybe she kinda felt her intention and went for it, much like a shadow would? Maybe making the humans “shadow” them is their way of revenge for being under their control. I feel I might be pulling at strings here but there may be something there
I was confused about that part too, but considering what Emilyko says afterwards (something like “Ah, sorry, I did something rude”, and Kate saying “It’s ok, it was kind of fun”) I’m guessing the high-five wasn’t voluntary on Kate’s part, even though I’m not sure how her hands ended up there for the high-five lol.

Edit:
On reading your comment again I feel like I get what you mean. It’s about how her hands ended up in that position for the high-five despite not doing it before, right?
re hands
I think it may just have been the sort of thing where one person puts up their hands to offer a high five, and the other person raises their hands reflexively in response. Not necessarily because of any important plot stuff. I think that because I’ve seen that kind of thing in anime before.
Haha, can’t hurt to overthink the plot every now and then I suppose XD
Don’t forget, we’re starting volume 6 today!
hands
Yeah, that’s what I meant, she had them up to high five as if she was expecting it, and on a high five your shadow copies your hand movements as well, but it might also just be nothing haha
“we”??
