I can’t say I agree with Patrick’s plan to propose to Margaret despite not liking her. That feels like lying to save her similar to what Anthony and Kate did with Barbara. Also, someone else finally knows about who he really likes! Kate and Emilico swapping around in Ricky’s thoughts was a really cool way to show his comprehension.
And with an ending like that, there’s no way I could have resisted reading ahead even more I can’t blame myself for reading the whole rest of the volume last week
I’m just glad this character’s getting more time. For some time now, Maggie has been a potential favorite background character for me, so I’ve been waiting to see her shadow get more screen time so that she does as well.
It doesn’t hurt that most of my free time these past few weeks have gone into a project I’m working on.
I had read ahead but held myself back to get back into club pace. However I didn’t see the chapter end this week and read ahead again hahaha, it just captures you like that
Oh didn’t know you guys are reading Shadow House! Or perhaps forgot about it
Anyways, super nice, I’m enjoying the series. But usually finishing a volume in a few hours. Vol 15 was good (finally, after a few boring volumes), looking forward to V16!
Boy, when I saw the comment from ChristopherFritz (not @'ing him so he doesn’t get a notification in case he hasn’t finished reading yet) about wanting Maggie to get more screentime, having read the whole volume, it was like dramatic irony in real life!
But ChristopherFritz, when you do finish reading and see this comment, I’m curious to know why she became a character of interest for you. Did she have lines or something before in the story? Maybe she did and I’m just not remembering.
I thought it was weird that she would sleep through having a knife held to her face. It makes sense that she was awake, but probably too afraid to do anything. Margaret doing that kind of undercuts the sympathy I have for her.
I also noticed the weirdness of Maggie giving Margaret the drug and then seemingly not being there when it takes effect. I figured she would have been killed in the initial awakening, but there was no acknowledgement of that, so that couldn’t be it.
Man, to think Anthony was behind it all! And when he kills Maggie, I think that was the first time a character has died in the story right? I mean besides characters who died before the story started and stuff like that.
It feels like it would actually be harder to hide a dead body than having her undercover as a faceless doll. Although I guess the castle is on a cliff, so maybe it’s just a matter of throwing her off.
When Kate went off on her own, I figured the stuff with Patrick would be like a small side story before seeing what Kate was up to, but boy was I wrong! With this, plus the cover of the next volume, I’m super excited for when it comes out.
Rosemary is still a question mark right? I think Anthony mentioned putting some cushioning at the bottom of the cliff to give them a chance of surviving. I can’t believe I forgot about Bell though. That one was messed up in how pointless it was. The thing about antagonists like the star bearers becoming good guys is sometimes you remember the things they did in the past and wonder if they kind of got off easy.
Like, Vegeta is one of the goodest of the good guys these days, but when I remember some of the stuff he did towards the beginning, I wonder if it’s really okay that he ends up with a happy family and being Goku’s best training buddy
Well, now that I think about it, Barbara and Barbie definitely didn’t get off easy. Especially since Barbara will presumably have to deal with the news that Christopher is dead a second time once she finds out she was lied to.
Speaking of Christopher, there was one more thing I forgot to mention. I always thought it was weird that Anthony could somehow have escaped if Christopher died by suicide. After what Anthony did to Maggie, I’m pretty confident he killed Christopher to save himself once he found out the 一体化 would result in his death.
Making it seem like the death was during the process would make sure the adults didn’t suspect foul play. Edward did mention Christopher died during the 一体化, so it seems to have worked. I’m not sure how he would have made it so the adults didn’t realize the living doll’s body was missing though.
Nice! I didn’t realize. In that case, I’m excited for when we start reading it. I’ll do my best not to read ahead
