(After deciding to create new volume threads Mondays, I forgot…)

We’re starting a new volume with chapters 162 and 163. Things pick up from the end of the last volume.

The face of realization

Feels like we are nearing some sort of endgame indeed, hard not to read ahead this week

This week, the storyline continues in chapter 166. Then, back to shogi in 167!

That could have gone a lot worse for Rin, for sure. She’s still holding onto the feelings a bit, but at least it’s out in the open? Still feels a bit like the other shoe has to drop though…

FUKIN DENSE SHOUNEN PROTAGONIST

This feels a bit weird tho, how wouldn’t their relationship be awkward after this?

We’re at chapters 168 and 169 this week.

It’s the first two chapters of a three-parter. Chances are you’re going to want to take your time and spread it out this week.

I had forgotten to set the new thread to watching again :sob:

Rin

Well, she shot her shot. It went as well as could be expected. Hopefully her feelings will eventually recede as she sees that there’s never an opening for her.

Takeru and Sakurako

Based on the stuff she’s spilling to embarrass him, they are progressing quite a bit “off camera”. I’m so happy it’s going well for them

We’re in the 170’s with chapters 170 and 171 this week. Is this when we find out whether it’s a cat or a whale?

Cuddling in the elevator  It seems like Ayumu’s self-imposed rule has the potential to cause issues at this point. They both pretty much know that they like each other, so Urushi may get confused/frustrated if things don’t move forward because of it. I doubt it will actually end up going that way though.

I wonder if someone else will consider the possibility of it.

Gotta cling on to every bit of hope.

If you think about it, Urushi has to graduate eventually, and Ayumu still has a whole final year of school from that point. Wouldn’t it just be hilarious if the mangaka brought us all the way here, then in the end paired Ayumu up with Rin Maki?

It would certainly be par for the course with what happens when I have a favorite character. I’m really good at picking second place, apparently. :joy:

I suspect Yamamoto-sensei is not the kind of author to bait to that extent though, so I think I’m rooting for the actual victor this time…even if I do feel bad for Rin. :stuck_out_tongue:

Maki would certainly be quite the twist ending, though.

But to be serious, I agree with you on our faithful mangaka. It’s always clear who will end up together.

That’s what makes it so tough when the doomed rival appears
