The final result is the entire chapter 1 + extras content. Since the volume of text changes very little compared to the novel which I track I’m pretty confident to announce 19k Chars in 6.5 hours.
I do not know how to express how thankful I am to everyone and everything to have been able to read Japanese for fun today.
I did work a lot but couldn’t have done so without such a great environment

Just finished アトリエ vol. 5 so here’s a fudemushi mood board
This series increases in difficulty as the story moves on, so switching from the steadily-L25 Naruto manga to this dense no-furigana probably-L28 Atelier volume was a bit of a level shock. This story is so fascinating and beautifully illustrated… I feel like I can never mention Atelier casually, I always have to gush about how gorgeous of a world it is and how the characters are so unique and the magic system is so intriguing. Anyway, great volume!
It’s pouring rain outside now, I may take a short eye break (and snack break) and then I’ll be starting 君と綴るうたかた 1 for a vibe/difficulty switch

Loving all the updates! I had a second little session this afternoon (fuelled by cheese number 2 - manchego) before going to see Die Hard at the cinema. It was on old 35mm film so had all sorts of fun imperfections. An absolute classic (and most definitely a Christmas film).
Did a little bit of satori once I got home but I’m too sleepy to update stats specifically tonight - see you all tomorrow to finish it off! Look forward to continuing to have my mind blown by how many characters / hours some of you are putting in haha. おやすみ！

Welp. Complicated feelings are happening. If she doesn’t see how bad the parents are because he hides it from her, and he resents her for not noticing he’s not doing okay… It explains things, not justifies them.
Who gave him the dashcam footage of his parents badmouthing him just before they died? The fuck? No wonder he’s acting the way he is. But he shouldn’t be in charge of looking after his sister.
I’m glad 真 is also like, that sucks but doesn’t excuse shit.
葬送のフリーレン
Fern is such a brat sometimes. I don’t like bratty characters, but am attempting to understand that she’s allowed to be that way. Ugh, choose whatever you want I don’t mind (but I’m gonna judge you if you choose wrong). She’s realistic, but she infuriates me.
D’aw, being thanked makes her feel a little like the hero Himmel was.
(If you’re not gonna pass anyone, you’re a bad teacher… Not that ゼンゼ is doing any teaching, but I reckon the point still stands.)
Didn’t quite realise that was volume complete, was expecting one more chapter.
ぼっち・ざ・ろっく
喜多ちゃん is good at being receptionist. リョウ is not because dead-eyed stare, ぼっち is having an identity crisis. 喜多’s name is like 宇喜多’s.
ぼっち fears being blamed for bad guitar playing? 逃げた is ran away, so I’m extrapolating. 喜多ちゃん apologises too much and is told to stop.
Explanation of lack of guitar knowledge is why she never showed up to practice. リョウ: I assumed you died so I’ve been burning incense for you. 喜多ちゃん: please don’t kill me.
More apologies, …Blonde one doesn’t care, but her sister says to work here for the day. 喜多ちゃん decides that’s not enough so she’s borrowing her sister’s maid costume to make it more embarassing.
The others don’t get out of work. 喜多ちゃん is gonna give tips of how to be better receptionist. ぼっち’s new song is “eulogy because I’m compared to the new employee I’m useless.”
Yeeep that’s enough of that. This manga still intimidates me.
Got 10hrs still, so I should be able to get some more reading in tomorrow morning. For now though it is sleepy times.
Book 2 is DONE. Half-way through I took a game break to play 100% Orange Juice with friends lol. Brain is cooked AGAIN. I’m going to have dinner and then see how far I can get through volume 3.
Stats for volume 2 was 202 pages in 2hr 26min. My total is now 404 pages in 4hr 53min! That is 100% the most Japanese I’ve read in a day ever.

WHAT AN EFFORT
I grade 逆転裁判４ a level 26 on Natively (easier than ちはやふる、葬送のフリーレン, harder thanナルト or 北国ゆらゆら紀行) and I had freaking amazing time ever since hour 6 or something, in the last two hours I did maybe four lookups overall, and it just felt great to zoom zoom through the game ^^
I estimate I’m probably somewhere in the exact middle of the game, and the game has been running for ~14 hours on my Steam account today xddd
I paused the reading timer at 12:29:08, I’ll go and take a bath and still try to read some 下弦の月 to make up for my own reading challenge as well, but I’ll finish all my reading today so that I wouldn’t feel tempted to wake up tomorrow early and add even more reading, I want to finish reading today ^^
I’ll submit a proper character counter in my summary post probably tomorrow ^^

Think this is about the same pages as I got last readathon, haven’t checked whether it’s actually a record or not though. I was planning for more but still very happy with how much I could get done!

This story was so cute! Apparently there are lots more volumes in the series, so I’ll add them to my wishlist for future enjoyment 
My next planned manga is 仁獣芳烈伝 (じんじゅうほうれつでん), a martial arts BL to follow up the GL I just finished If I still have reading stamina after the next manga, my following story themes are basketball and American football which should be very fun to read back-to-back 
Maybe another short break before continuing (my eyes are getting tired

I love your photo, something about it REALLY looks to me like one of those VN background photos, just needs some filters applied to it.
As a certifiable American^tm, I’ve never seen it spelled like that. Now that I think about it, it’s similar enough to coughing that it might have been spelled that way and abbreviated over time I guess.
It took me a second to find the title from the cover (that one kanji was weird to look up), but this looks interesting. It’s a manga and not a whole light novel.
I haven’t started my reading day yet, but I’ll get started soonish tonight. It’s always entertaining to see what everyone’s reading and why they picked that to read. I read volumes 1-6 of the manga series I’ll read for the day last week. So starting in a few hours I’ll finish up with volumes 7-9. Probably not that many characters because it’s manga, but I should get a few hours more than I normally do for a readathon.
