I think one of these days it might be fun to try and count the number of pronouns I hear on a daily basis and which they are.
I’ve kind of been listening in for this purpose recently but I always forget like an hour into the day. That being said I really don’t feel like I hear pronouns being used all that often…
When talking to other friends who are studying Japanese, or who are fluent in Japanese, I use あたし. I’m a guy, but I’m also a super feminine bisexual and it feels right for me.
But in all seriousness, I use 僕. I don’t feel 俺 fits me very well and it always felt weird when I used it. My boyfriend has also said I should stick with 僕.
I’m a woman in my mid 20’s and use 私 (わたし) all the time. I know it’s kind of like the default and a bit boring but since I don’t live in Japan and speak it every day, I haven’t really found another pronoun to latch onto. Maybe one a day.
