I am reading 極主夫道 Way of the Househusband. I think the anime is really funny and the manga is primarily pictures with a little Japanese. There are some yakuza slang but the kanji have been manageable. At the beginning there were kanji I couldn’t read, but it didn’t inhibit me from reading because I had seen the anime and know the basic story and the manga is primarily pictures. Depending on my mood, I would look up the meaning of the kanji or vocabulary I didn’t know. I didn’t understand everything, but I could still enjoy reading the manga.
Also, this forum has a lot of book clubs. I don’t read along with the book clubs, but they keep lists of books/manga that they have read. That is usually where I find appropriate books/manga for my Japanese level. Here is the link to the Beginner Japanese Book Club. They have a mix of manga and books in their list. Also, all of the books/manga I have read from these book clubs have a spreadsheet with vocabulary/kanji meanings.
If you click the link above you will see links to other book clubs like Absolute Beginners Book Club and Intermediate Manga Club. I recommend that you poke around these book clubs until you find a title that you like.
