It would be nice if lifetime users could create sub accounts. Kind of like a reset but we can keep all of our data from the parent account if we need to. What do you think?
That’s EVIL!
I think that would defeat the point of our subscriptions a little. I mean, that would be very easy to pay for one lifetime account and then have other people on the sub account who aren’t paying that way, don’t you think? I’m not saying everyone would do that, but a thought like that is likely why we won’t see that kind of thing happen.
It would be nice if we could download all of our synonyms and notes somehow, though, to re-upload later…
Totally tangential, but: I’ve been pondering how a family membership might be implemented (not that I’m suggesting it for Wanikani). I think it would be helpful to have several family members learning together, but it’s quite a burden financially to do so at full cost each. The problem is that it would have to be an honor system, and too few people care about honor these days.
Yeah… I know what you mean.
My sister and her husband both have lifetime accounts, and even gave me $100 towards my lifetime account for Christmas (2015). That’s a lot of spending (especially with the exchange rate as it was when we all paid… it was still $300 CDN before taxes with the sale! XD).
I wonder if that’s something they’re talking about though… like maybe after the first 2 people the third and fourth people can each have 10% then 15% off respectively… or something. Maybe even +5% off for each additional family member. It’s small (especially if we’re talking people who are monthly subscribers) but still a huge help for families that want to learn together. Might work better than paying one lump sum/subscription fee for a “family account”.
Well, I used the reset. Thanks! Have been absent for too long again
and wanting to get into japanese learning again. Great timing!
High on my wish list is resetting individual items on each level for review. For example, reset all kanji on level 5 or all vocab on level 7. I really don’t want full blown reset, but I would like to gradually review each level’s items. It is not as invasive as a full reset.
Actually, I am doing this for kanji, but it is involving lots of mouse clicks. Open to new tab, scroll down, resurrect, lather, rinse, repeat.
I feel like @rfindley did have a script for that. Something like “Burn Manager” was the name…
(Am I wrong?)
EDIT: Yes, it seems I’m correct. You can grab it below.
This certainly looks to be exactly what I’m looking for! I’m surprised rfindley hadn’t noticed my multiple requests for this and pointed out that he had already done a script to do this. This will certainly save a few mouse clicks - thank you both!!
You’re welcome! The other thing that might work, is rfindley’s Self Study script. Although going by what you said, pretty sure Burn Manager is the one you want.
When I get into the higher levels… (one day…) I intend to use both!
On the old forums, it seemed easier to follow the script-related stuff: just click on API & Third Party. I realize I can still do that, but we’ve gone from 5 topic bins to about 17, which means I have 17 places to look to filter what I want to read. I can use Latest, but the sheer volume of activity means I simply can’t keep up.
Anyway, feel free to tag me. Tagging tends to be what drives my activity on the forums now, plus a very small number of threads that I’m actually Tracking.
Congrats, you won a free Like
gasp There should be a title for that!
“Senpai noticed me!”
=D
Everyone in this thread gets a like… because…
BECAUSE!
Makes me like you too
Just to clarify, in the danger zone, it says: “If you reset to level 1, all data will be deleted from your account and you will be able to start over with a clean slate.”
I’ve been hesitant to do it because the way it’s worded sounds like it affects more categories of account data than resetting to any of the other levels. Would it touch other categories of information, like billing, forum and avatar stuff? Or does it just mean that all SRS things are deleted?
It means all item data. Forum and billing wouldn’t be affected, but SRS, notes, synonyms… Those will all be gone.
