First burn!! I’m so happy

Up to level 8, and definitely slower this week with travelling, family holiday, but,
It’s still progress (“as long as you’re going in the right direction; speed is another matter”)
woop woop! mine are just around the corner. exciting!
Just leveled up! I was feeling depressed because the level 60 mark felt so far away so I changed up my study routine to include one smaller batch of lessons in the morning, and another smaller batch of lessons in the afternoon. So in total I am doing 5 more lessons per day, but it feels easier because the lessons are in smaller batches than before. It’s been working great, and also it knocked 2 days off my average time, which over the course of 60 levels is about 4 months.
Sorry for the analysis, but I’m excited about my new routine! I’ve been able to stick to it now for about 3 weeks, so I hope it will be sustainable!
That’s awesome! Thanks for sharing, I’m happy for you! ![]()

I started a similar thing on Bunpro - I’m now doing lessons in batches of 2 rather than 5, because 5 was daunting and took me forever, and was a hurdle preventing me from actually doing lessons at all some days
if I do ‘just’ 2 a day, that’s way more progress than zero!! And some days I will do a second batch, much like your new schedule ![]()
I may or may not have crammed the entirety of level 33 kanji lessons in the span of a few hours… All because I’m a dummy and want to keep my 9-10day pace… Send help. This kanji feels genuinely impossible to memorize. Oh boi. So this is what 地獄 tastes like.

Me realizing I may have made a terrible mistake here
Sending what help I can through the magical channels of the internet. Expect the kanji fairy to appear to you sometime tonight, maybe in a dream!
Work is busy atm but I keep my streaks alive. 209 days on WK and 70 on BunPro
I only have 25 Apprentice items which is nice and 22 Kanji lessons left so this level will take a bit longer than usual but I’m not forgetting old stuff and I’m keeping my sanity. Chipping away at a medium-ish pile up of reviews. This can only be declared as a win.
Here to report that the kanji fairy did indeed visit me, and boy was it yummy :3 Experienced some side effects :(((
But otherwise it totally worked! Just look:
Thanks so much for the help. As a thank you I shall be sending some tasty kanji fairies your way, too (not guaranteed tho, may accidentally eat em) :3
Time for level 9, where 苦 is finally presented. ![]()
Looks like I’ll need to slow down soon, because the reviews are starting to pile up. To be precise, now I have around 150 reviews daily, and my first burns should happen around June. So maybe I’ll try to level up every 10 days, not 7, hmm.
Reached the double digits, just one more until the painful levels. Can’t wait.
Wait for meeee ![]()

Finally I was in the mood again to tackle some new Kanji lessons. This time on pen and paper … which almost bums me out to admit that this produces the best looking results I think. Maybe I should just write in a way smaller font size on the whiteboard or the graphics tablet as well ![]()
I also did 317 reviews today, a third of it being burns. Part of my motivation is that I’m soooo close to the halfway point now! Only three more levels!
What a silly thing to say - of course you won’t regret it! Though I’ve got some leftover kanji fairy from @KJules さん in the fridge ready to deploy in case you do regret it later

I envy you… My handwriting is SO BAD, I can barely write readable text in spanish (my native language).
Thanks god some geniuses made computers ![]()
I’ll let you in on the secret on avoiding the wrath of the Kanji Fairy. It is …
...
why,
C H E A T I N G
of course! ![]()
I never let Apprentice 1-3 Kanji fail no matter how much I forget them and even with guruing them I’m a bit less strict. Because I vastly prefer learning Kanji in context with vocabulary and that seems to work great.
As someone who mostly got feedback like “what does that say” on his handwriting reading such comments is a real delight, thank you!
I put quite some active effort in bettering my writing so it didn’t come out of nowhere but good to know it did something!
I should probably do that as well, good idea!
Thanks - I’ve used several templates but I actually kinda prefer the free form on a standard checkered piece of paper.
