Wani for iOS - Practise your unlocked Radicals, Kanji, and Vocabulary anywhere!

Yeah, my point exactly, because as long as it helps you learn Japanese (which is the goal, right?^^), then it should help some people, which is the goal of developing and creating this app.

first of all : this all sounds awesome.     I was thinking it would be cool if you had a section where you could write kanji on your touchscreen to practice writing it, but thats probably mad hard to accomplish.

Can you make this available for my macbook pro?

 We'll consider it :P

I'm not sure about this unfortunately, as we never developed for the Mac App Store before. :(

It defeats the entire purpose of SRS. If you want to learn that way, go ahead. But WK works differently, and practising will fool the system into thinking you know an item better than you actually do.

Basically the same thing if you knew some beginner Kanji before starting WaniKani.

Hmm, maybe we’ll add backwards compatibility too, similar to the ‘Zen’ study web-app another user created earlier.

Well, yeah. Also I like most things connected in my browser, so if you had one for chrome and/or firefox that would be cool.

All these things are a possibility, but I can’t really guarantee anything other than the fact that it will be available for iOS sometime soon and that it will provide some useful functionality including practising unlocked stuff, notifications for upcoming reviews, maybe a reverse mode, and possibly stroke order for Kanji.

Piderman, I understand your view. But don’t worry, there will be useful stuff for everyone, such as the review notifications.

… I think you can use the date for the next review (which is included in the API) and the pre-set srs spacing to calculate when you should have a review and download the necessary info to do proper reviews… I may be misunderstanding how it works but there might be a way of getting around not having direct access to the review queue

That is true, but that won’t technically be a proper review, as you would still have to do the actual review on WaniKani afterwards.

ahhhhhh true.... TIME FOR KOICHI/VIET TO FLY IN AND SAVE THE DAY ^_^

Yeah  I hope that the new API with reviewing capability will be out in the next few weeks. ^^

I personally wouldn’t use it unless it was tied to the SRS. I like the accountability when I get things wrong, so I don’t trick myself into thinking I know something.

I would, however, LOVE if you could download all your reviews, run them, then upload results when you’re done.  I commute by train and go underground, so having to have a constant connection on my phone is tough.

Unfortunately the API can’t do that at the moment :frowning: Downloading unlocked content is possible though, as that part of the app is done now. Sorry! We will however implement the reviews functionality once it’s possible through the API.

Is this dead? Android app?

Yes, it is dead, unfortunately. Me and my brother are busy with school and college exam stuff and all, so this project was suspended.

Try this instead. /t/WaniKani-for-iOS/1862/1
