UX improvement: Search button looks disabled but actually works

On the main WaniKani page, there is a magnifying glass icon. Once you click it, you see the main search bar and a search icon to the right:

There are two things that could be improved with this button:

  1. It looks disabled because it’s gray.
  2. There is no hand icon on hover that indicates this button can actually be pressed.

So it looks like the button wouldn’t work but it does work as it should.

Mine is okay and I’m guessing for a lot of others as well. Hopefully someone could give you suggestions as to what is wrong with yours! Good luck :wink:

Just to be clear, based on your screenshot you are talking about the magnifying glass which is not what I was referring to. I’m talking about the Search button that comes after you press the magnifying glass.

Yes, what you say is true! But, I’ve NEVER noticed it because after typing whatever, i simply press ‘enter’ instead of grabbing my mouse and clicking on the ‘search’ button.

Be interesting to see if WK ever fixes this…
