[Userscript] Lesson/Review Count in Forums

Ironically, just as I clicked on this post, the bar has appeared. It’s there when I scroll up to the top of the post and it follows me the whole way down. If and when it disappears again (as I’m sure it will) I’ll scroll up again and screenshot the bar for you.

It could be the WK bar. On the poll thread, none of it shows up as it’s supposed to when the bug is in effect. If your script was the problem, surely the stock bar should appear just fine?

Ah, I just re-enabled the like counter script to see if it broke the bar, and sure enough, it’s gone now. Looks like I’ll have to notify Kumirei, it seems as though that’s the script that’s breaking the bar?

I don’t have that script installed, and I still saw the problem.

And I’m already here anyway :eyes:

That’s strange. Well, I’ll leave the experts to it! :stuck_out_tongue: If you need any screenshots or any other info just let me know.

Edit: It’s gone again, even with the like counter disabled. Guess it’s independent of both of them, since the WK bar is gone too? Idek.

I might add that I have not seen it disappear once, so perhaps it’s only an issue in certain situations.

Taking a quick glance at my code, and running some tests…

My script shouldn’t be able to cause the bar to completely disappear. But the bar could end up in its normal position at the top of the thread.

Here’s what it would look like if my script was unable to find the bar when the script starts up:
(some of my CSS styles still affect it, but only to a minor extent)

I have that bar now, but it doesn’t follow me down as per your script.

:point_right: [ v1.0.13 ] - Add retry in case of delayed appearance of Wanikani App bar

I don’t know if this will fix the issue, but it’s a preventative measure at least.

That’s brought it back! Also re-enabled the like counter and they’re both playing nicely. I’ll ping you again within the coming days if it stops working again, but somehow I think this’ll fix it. I appreciate the help, I really love this script so I was badly missing it. It’s too easy to waste time on the forums and not realise you’ve got reviews you could be doing.

Thanks again!

This script has stopped working for me - not sure what the problem is. I’ve tried deleting it and re-installing it but the lesson and review count doesn’t appear. Any ideas? I’m completely script illiterate just fyi.

Try opening your Javascript console to see if there are any errors there. (Press F12 and click on the Console tab).

@rfindley is it possible for you to macbookify that response?

Ctrl-Option-J ?

I’m just going by what I read on Google. Apparently, you may need to enable Developer Tools first.

thanks yep I did some googling myself, found what I needed to be able to open the console. This is what i’ve got…

Sorry - I’m pretty computer illiterate as you can tell…
please don’t judge me because I’m a dumb mac user lol

Excuse me madam, could you spare a moment to talk about our lord and savior Windows 10?

Just kidding

Hmm… I don’t see any errors related to the script. But I guess it’s possible that the forum page isn’t completing its loading process, because (I think) the lesson-count script waits for the page to finish loading before displaying anything.

Thanks for having a look - maybe it will just come good on its own??

works for me on pc, win 10, chrome

Are you using Safari?

Also, on that error screen, I realized maybe there are more errors scrolled farther up (or down). Could you double-check if there are more than just the 4 errors you showed in your paste above?

Thank you @rfindley for finding one more place to keep reminding me about the big amount of lessons and reviews I still need to catch up to…

Now serious, thanks for making all those awesome scripts
