It is except that it’s Android mobile only.

Houhou is a desktop SRS that will let you import from your WK account.

Never actually used the SRS part of it but it’s a pretty good searchable Japanese ↔ English dictionary.

Well, from one point of view, I think the vast majority of WK subscribers never make it to level 60… probably not even level 30. And speaking in purely financial terms, WK could decide to focus entirely on those “early quitters”. People who quit WK early are probably less likely to use user scripts (note: I’m explicitly not making the reverse implication).

On the other hand, viral marketing matters. Products like WK depend to a certain extent on a small, but vocal and highly mobilised user base who like to sing its praises and recommend it to people. So from that point of view, breaking the expectations of that subset of users can become an issue even when it doesn’t directly affect the majority of its users.

Again, I’m observing this thread with an almost scientific interest in how it plays out.

I second this, especially since I am not a native English speaker, sometimes I can’t remember the English word, only the meaning of it - so sometimes I type a synonym that is not recognized by WK, or sometimes I type the word in my own language and then check if it is the same. If it is, I will correct with Double Check and advance.

For a real blatant demonstration of how Double Check needs to be a native feature, I once got 年内 marked wrong because I said “by end of year” instead of “by the end of the year”

I like the update overall, but I have 3 issues with it:

  1. I have only one user script that I rely on for when I make typos, etc.: WaniKani Open Framework. Right now, I don’t see ANY way to have ANY userscripts turned on, so I’m basically hoping that I don’t make too many mistakes.
  2. As others have mentioned, I like to see the summary screen at the end to see my overall progress and to know what needs work so that I can improve in that area.
  3. Also, bring back the ability to have the Enter key let you advance to the next lesson item as to keep consistency with reviews.

Other than that, I like the revised UI and the fact that I can FINALLY add synonyms to kanji and vocab while I’m studying it realtime! Again, please bring back the summary page and, even more importantly, the userscripts as I don’t want to be marked wrong when I either make a typo or put in an answer that I haven’t added as a synonym, but have the right idea on!

Wait no way, did they remove the review summary page as well? That is half of why I keep coming back to WK, looking at the summary of all I have reviewed. I frequently take snapshots and send it to friends to encourage each other. Why on earth would they remove it?

Yeah if you look at old threads on this forum it’s funny-sad to see comments from years ago where the poster says things like “I’ll reach level 60 in WK and then I’ll do X, Y and Z and…” And user is stuck at level 13 and hasn’t been active in years.

I don’t know what the distribution looks like but I expect that is you make it past level 15 you’re already a minority.

Yes indeed, the review summary is gone. Hopefully it will make a return in one way or another.

Since the summary was removed, you can no loger click on “Review” without refreshing the page (F5) first, because the Review button is greyed out and it doesn’t do anything… :cold_sweat: I honestly fail to see how this summary removal is an improvement. To me it’s a feature being removed from a product I bought.

I really like the look and feel of the new update overall!
Im a mobile user and I’ve just noticed it’s really hard to scroll to the last tab on the “patterns of use” slider without being auto skipped to the next lesson.
I hope this gets fixed soon since i really love testing my reading on these examples!

If nothing else I always liked seeing the percentage I got right on the review summary.

Why would anyone think it’s a good idea to remove the summary page? It’s beyond me … it also sucks because I had a really good routine going on for weeks now and now because of all the scripts that stopped working, the missing review page which fueled my motivation I can’t continue with it. Reading through some of the comments and checking the number of likes on certain responses, I hope they take notice and revert the summary page change …

Yay to no summary page! Love not feeling terrible about my low percentages, haha

The minor upgrades are pretty cool and there’s a lot of things that aren’t looking too great but I can get over that.

However, I am gonna pitch in for the summary page because it was one of the most useful features of the site and I don’t think that the extra study covers any of it’s features at all.

Edit: As I’m using it more I’ve noticed that the new UI looks a lot worse than the old one. The old one looked more clean and polished overall.

I wasn’t sure how I felt about the summary page until just now. Finished my reviews and… nothing… Didn’t realize how much I liked that page until it was gone. Lots of headscratchers on this update.

A bit outdated but: Wanikani Users Distribution by Level

Please bring back the lessons completed counter. The number of new lessons I do each day is an important part of my workflow to both stay on track and also not get overwhelmed down the road with too many review.

Summary pages, why was it even gotten rid of in the first place? Also, the UI was decent enough for desktop version but well it is what it is

appreciate being able to add synonyms in the lesson itself though
