I 100% understand the difference. I’m N4 grammar level. However…
Does anyone have any tricks or tips for remembering which Vokab is which when it comes to transitive/ intrans?

This has a good explanation of the patterns for transitive vs. intransitive:
https://www.wasabi-jpn.com/japanese-grammar/intransitive-verbs-vs-transitive-verbs/
i find that there’s one possibility that seemed like a pattern to me at first but actually isn’t:
One one hand, you have (intransitive first)
開く → 開ける
付く → 付ける
But then, there’s also verbs that do the exact opposite:
焼ける → 焼く
抜ける → 抜く
Not a trick (or a tip even to be honest).
But I remember intrans v. trans by making a bunch of sentences (think +20 each) with similar usage parallel to each other.
When I did 続ける VS. 続く:
このレッスンを続けましょうか?
私のレッスンは続いた.
水を飲んだら、運動を続けられる
薬を飲んだが、頭痛は続きました。
And so on.
For me, especially when it comes to speaking (where you need to recall grammar/usages VERY quickly). Just doing a large batch of sentences using the different verb types helps me to know which to use in correlation with what particle.
If I’m mid conversation with someone and I’m hearing myself use は、が、に、を、because I’ve practiced using it myself, even if just a little bit, I’ll have a much much better idea of what verb needs to follow.
For me, this does more than just knowing “Transitive verbs get を”, etc. etc.-- It helps me avoid pausing after the particle
それをつづ。。。。けますね?
I put them in anki as I run into things that I get wrong. Front of the card is one of the pair (the note makes cards for both) and the back is saying what each are.
I made a comment about this exact thing a few months ago over at the Learn Japanese subreddit:
Hey! This is a good explanation: Transitive vs Intransitive Verbs┃I'm Breaking vs It's Broken - YouTube
As i mentioned, i understand transivity
I already understand transitivity
Scroll down on the site @MissMisc linked, it contains a lot of rules to figure out which verbs are transitive and which aren’t.
Tofugu made an article already about transitive and intransitive verbs and possible ways people can go about learning them: Japanese Transitive and Intransitive Verbs (and How to Use Them)
I thought it was pretty helpful, especially with pointing out why there are no “patterns” you can use to distinguish transitive and intransitive verbs (with examples!).
I already understand transitivity
I like this article: Mastering Transitivity Pairs – Remembering Japanese transitive and intransitive verbs the easy way
It is similar in content to jbradleyc’s link but spends more words covering the topic and contains more examples.
Are you even looking at what people are posting? They contain things about the patterns that exist, to the extent that they do exist. That’s what you asked for.
Yeah what he said!
