Torii - SRS learning application for vocabulary

I’m guessing it was a bug that this wasn’t correct since I wrote like the kanji + katakana version (but no kanji) instead of only hiragana which is the simplified version?

I just found the word 上 (かみ) in my lessons, but all of the example sentences use 上 as in above or on top of.

@Pebblesrockz Thanks for letting me know, I just fixed that.

@Book9 Well the input field accepts either hiragana or katakana, not both. I added this to the bugs list.

つまらない has unrelated examples attached. They seem semi-advanced.

Can we put a (noodles) after one of these entries? Otherwise I can put the meaning when either come up and both work.

Thanks for adding this feature!

I’m really enjoying it, it allows me to add words I come across elsewhere and now can review them so they aren’t just forgotten or added to a list I never look at.

Since the latest update, I have a few wonky things that have been happening.

Review amount is more or less always wrong, and when it says I’ve finished there is usually another batch waiting (even if it isn’t even close to top of the hour), aka it ends the review session before I’ve done all reviews.

Rookie counts are completely off too. I just finished 25 lessons yesterday and another 25 just now and this is what it shows:

How can they be 16, when they should be around 50 at least?

Oh wait, I’m only doing lessons that I’ve myself pushed to the front, so are they not showing in the count because they aren’t part of my current lesson set that I picked in settings? Also, I don’t think those 25 lessons from yesterday have come up for their first review. Despite me doing them about 20 hours ago. (Which probably means that more or less all the lessons I’ve done for the last week haven’t come up for even one review… Which makes sense because I should have had a LOT of reviews this week, but I haven’t.)

So it seems that while I can push words into lessons, I’m not sure they are entering my normal review queue.

I have Torii installed on Mac. v. 1.3.5.

^ this. I’ve made some adjustments, let me know if dashboard counts are accurate now and words you manually pushed into lessons appear in your reviews.

I think so:

So many reviews. :sob: So many rookies. :sob:

Hey,
this app is really great but it’s missing two important WK features

  1. Being able to input number as digits (e.g. “3 things” on “mittsu”)
  2. Some of WK synonyms (e.g. “to rest” on “yasumu”)

Here is another example. When reviewed I have no way of know which one it is referring to. The same answer would work for both. Maybe one entry with all the meanings? Just a suggestion.

Wow this is great!

Couple things to update then I promise I’ll buy lifetime.

  1. When I am doing “JP->EN” lessons and reviews I don’t want to see english meanings and be asked to type in the japanese translation. I want to see the japanese kanji and type in either the meaning or the reading like how WaniKani works. Obviously you would have to hide the furigana on the kanji (which I have already done through the options).

  2. Is there some way to view the list of upcoming vocabulary for the path I’ve selected so I can see the order you’ve used for the lessons?

This one’s example sentences is for the meaning of laying down, not for side/width.

@Lailani Thanks for your suggestions. I put your first point on the requested features list.

@sboardsti I think 2 entries for this word makes sense as the meanings are quite different. You’re right that the same answer would work for both, however there will be a message saying that there exists another meaning for this word. I can’t come up with a better solution atm

@hotyaznboi Thanks for your suggestions. Regarding lessons order: Items are ordered by their JLPT level, however the exact order is random.

@Book9 Fixed, thanks for the info.

Is there any way we can mass-archive lessons?

I’m going back through the JLPT levels but with WK vocab included. I’m trying to add only the WK vocab that I’m still shaky on, but I have to swim through thousands of words I already know well to find my WK leeches.

Even just changing the lesson batch would help. Right now I have to go through them 5 at a time and it’s taking forever.

For some reason I cannot log in anymore. I did not use Torii for a couple of days and now that I tried to it asked for my log in details for the first time since i started it somewhere in february. It also does not recognize my email adress anymore when I try to do password recovery. Any other tips that might help?

@lopicake There is no such function at the moment. I could implement a feature that displays a list of all words of the selected Study Mode with the option to select multiple words and archive them… If you want to learn certain words, you can search for them via the ‘Browse’ menu and choose to move them to the front of your lessons queue.

@Jurien Are you sure you used the correct email address and there were no typos? You can send an email to support@torii-srs.com and tell me the email address you used for signing up to Torii, so I can take a look.

@Rakantor Today when I tried to enter, it worked out fine and the program did not ask me for my log in details. I checked whether i was using the right email address or if i did a typo while creating an account but i didn’t. Anyway, thanks for your fast reply.

I think that’s exactly what I’m looking for!
