The second major hurdle of a newcomer?

There’s an interesting QuizKnock video where they try to translate “simple” English sentences, but the catch is that all of the sentences use words in different ways than the “main” definition people learn first. The “jam” one especially produced some interesting translations.


I’m going to be honest it’s not going to get easier. The dozen vocabs meaning soon/at once/immediately still trip me up, all still in either apprentice or guru. But I just take them at a time, expose myself to more context sentences or hope that I encounter them in the wild. I had more leeches before, and constant drilling may help, but only up to a certain point. Reading and encountering those words out there, outside of WK, gets you priceless returns.
