🐌🏖 Team Snails on Vacation 🐌🏖

@Elfeera if you’re going to do 10 days a level, you’re gonna be one of the fastest snails here. Just saying. image

I thought level 3 was a fast level, so more than 10 days seems slow.

i believe level 3 is at normal speed, only levels 1 and 2 have faster SRS timing

I checked with wkstats: it took me 13 days, 8 hours. Maybe still too fast for a snail, but way slower than levelrunners.

Definitely no levelrunners here!

Welcome to the Snail Life!

Finally made it to level 18! It took about a month, and seemed to be just the right pace.

Ahhh this definitely seems like the group for me lol! Count me in, Team Snails!

So far, my pace on WaniKani has been pretty sporadic (particularly since I got married while I was on level 3 ), as you can see on this admittedly very tiny leveling chart:

I’m definitely hoping to avoid another 32 day level (or at least only have those sorts of levels around other big life changes) and probably average around the 15 days per level range, but we’ll see how that goes! Perhaps not an extreme snail strategy, but I think it’ll be a decent balance for life where it is now. It’s still double the minimum time per level!

In any case, it’s definitely gonna be motivational to spend time around folks who are taking things at their own pace. I know I can get easily discouraged when I feel like I’m not learning things fast enough. When I first tried to learn Japanese back in college, trying to keep up with the quick pace of classes definitely turned Japanese study into a chore for me, which I don’t want it to be this time around! Trying to cram so much into my head all at once made it difficult to retain anything! I burnt out then, but I’m ready to enjoy Japanese study again!

Onward fellow snails!!

Going into the countryside tonight. We got to visit someone who is about to depart to the spirit realm.
Probably going to vacation wanikani for a few days. Big ol’ batch of fuzzy reviews for when we get back.

Oh my peoples!

HI.

So, the highest level I’ve been was about 20? (maaaybe 21, I can’t remember now) but I reset back to level 10 (twice) after haphazard attempts, but I still plug at it I guess.

I am the parent of a toddler, and work in a medical setting so this last year has been to say mildly, rough and I just sort of stopped. Then I remembered, logged in, turned on vacation mode and then just stopped. And poked back in and was like I can’t remember my own name. So, back to the past. Zoom.

I don’t use wanikani as suggested- daily repetition it is for me, about the sameish time each day, but only on workdays because I have at least a few minutes to myself and am not engaged in toddler wrangling.

But I know more Kanji than I did…whenever I started this thing, and I like giving my brain something to memorize, so overall its been a win. Team snail.

Heeeeyyy, welcome back and to WK and the Team :snail:
The best thing is, you’re back and every little bit counts. Sometimes the little bits stick and that’s when you know you’ve had a win. Great stuff

Reached Level 12 after 25 days and 6 hours

After 58 days and 16 hours I finally reached level 22  Time to crawl towards level 23, slow and steady :snail:

Sweeeet! Nice going there :dizzy: :confetti_ball:

I’m joining the snail club! I used to want to go as fast as possible, but nowadays I prefer to spend more time on native material. I’ve been on this current level for 18 days and just turned on vacation mode!

Level 20! In true snail fashion, during this level I decided to bring down my daily lessons from 20 to 10. This way, my reviews won’t spiral out of control ever again, and I’ll have more time to dedicate to grammar resources. Now let’s move GO SNAILS GO SLOW

Welcome @BrunoCaesar and @beari  :beach_umbrella:
Time to kick back and enjoy the journey

Reached Level 5! 9 days and 15 hrs, not super, super slow I suppose, but definitely enjoying this pace so far :relaxed: We’ll see how long it holds!

Just crawled up to level 27. Death levels are deathly! I hope hell’s a little more relaxing.
My new favorite vocab is business card 名刺; literally, name stab. If I had business cards, I’d run through the streets, stabbing strangers with them to celebrate my ascension.

@TimeStamp says:

I hope hell’s a little more relaxing.

:joy:
You’re scaring us little kids who are still under Level 10.

It’ll be okay as long as you don’t stab youself with your business card.
