Definitely. I really noticed that with English.
Before I went to study in Ireland, I was really good a reading, writing, and listening to English, but I had no practice speaking it. When I arrived and tried to talk to people, I noticed that my mouth had trouble actually making the sounds I was thinking in my head, and it was super awkward.
So yeah, practicing to actually say Japanese words will help you a lot

I prefer shadowing, since it’s easier to tell if you are saying things correctly/with correct pitch and don’t enforce bad habits.

True. Simply repeating all the vocab readings during WK reviews will help a lot, and it also helps with memorization.

It defenitely helps. That’s one of the process of how I got a significantly high score in IELTS speaking part. It surely helps increasing your fluency. Just speak out loud and never come back or hesitate even you make any mistake. With enough practice and your increasing language knowledge, the mistakes will disappear overtime.

I’ve used this book a bit:
But more often I just listen to a podcast while walking and repeat what is being said with a small delay while listening. I’m a bit lazy about it, though, and should do it more often.
