Something something everywhere

Is it just me or has the word ‘something’ been inserted in a lot of the answers? For example just now, 行う needs to be ‘to carry something out’, whereas I could’ve sworn I answered ‘to carry out’ in the past. There have been 3 or 4 cases like this (that I’ve noticed) in the last couple of days. 繋げる ‘to connect’ → ‘to connect something’, 拾う ‘to pick up’ → ‘to pick something up’. Not a complaint (I understand why), just wondering was this a recent change?

Yeah, comparatively recent. It’s to highlight the difference between transitive and intransitive verbs.
