My own personal view is that you don’t need another SRS while you’re doing WK. Unless you’re really into SRS (and some people are) it just kills your joy.
I totally agree. It’s a buzzkill. I enjoy WaniKani but starting Anki again made me feel a bit annoyed. It is working for leeches, but there must be a smarter and more efficient way. What’s your strategy for leeches?
I simply could not fall asleep last night so for some reason I thought I’d re-read the first twenty pages of 夜の名前を呼んで1 now that I’ve purchased the full volume. It didn’t help me fall asleep, but it did help me want to continue reading it today. Somehow it feels WAY easier now than it did exactly two weeks ago, even when I read past my prior stopping point. Even though I feel super discouraged at times, I guess I really am getting better at this!!!
Anyway, here is some evidence that ミラ and I are kindred spirits
The art in this one remains incredible, and it looks as though we have more ridiculous outfits in store for the next chapter.
I am also getting a better understanding of the various interjection words across everything I’ve read. At first the huge variety was confounding me, but now it’s becoming clearer that manga characters have these little speech patterns that are part of their character. I imagine that as I read more those implications will make more and more sense.
This is such a cool idea! I’m going to try it out sometime!
My strategy is to let the WK system work its magic and not get too fussed about climbing up the levels in any predetermined way. Reading and listening will help you with the leeches in the longterm.
武州公秘話
巻之二 - And that’s the first section complete! Will start on the second of the three tomorrow. Now that the introductory parts are done the story is taking a deep nosedive into weirdness.
Reading interview scan pages is pretty heavy (only Vol.1 anyway, apart from 1 explanatory page every chapter-end). Maybe I can empathize with more of the background. I have bought Vol.1-3, so continuing on to 2.
Had a bit of a rough day and prioritised self-care for the most part, but I was able to get in some reading in the evening which I’m proud of. I’m immensely enjoying 蜘蛛ですが, and although it was pretty difficult at the start it’s been feeling a lot more comfortable recently, perceived difficulty-wise. I’m glad I decided to give it a go and challenge myself, as it’s definitely one of the coolest, most enjoyable books I’ve read!
I will be getting back to 自動販売機に生まれ変わった at some point.. I’ve been prioritising 蜘蛛ですが lately since I love it so much but I’m eager to get back to the wonderful world of vending machines later on. I’m also planning to introduce the fifth 安達としまむら book into the rotation after I’m done with 蜘蛛ですが which I’m looking forward to - I’ve honestly been missing the series and lot, I absolutely adore it.
Anyways, that’s all from me today. また明日
Edit: I seem to have replied to you by mistake @Redglare whoops
Finished Ruridragon 4 in a day. Wild! First volume took me weeks I think back then…
Started 逆転裁判2, got up to the first witness questioning. Smoother than when starting GS1 but I’ve forgotten a fair amount of law words (as well as regular words… and not helped by your first helper character who uses a lot of katakana when kanji would help me more). Anyway, it’s a start.
Day 26
Chapter eight of volume 2 of からかい上手の高木さん, read it early in the morning and it’s now not early and not morning and I don’t remember, but it was pretty good. Oh, I remember now, yeah, it was nifty, and sleep is appropriate to the theme.
