Work and life got super busy over the past week so I definitely haven’t read as much as I’d have liked, though I did still get something in everyday, and on days were I didn’t have time for much new content I did some re-reading.
Started the next chapter of Phantom Busters, which was slow going at a few pages a day due to the sheer amount of new vocab. Another easy chapter of Bluelock down. And also started the next ABBC read, which I’m super looking forward to because it aligns nicely with my goal this month of focusing on prose
Challenge Summary!
Overall, the challenge went well, definitely pushed me to read daily and to read for longer. In total I finished 7 manga volumes, with a total of 1591 pages read.
i can’t manage it in pretty pictures like everyone else but my total read books/manga was 14 vols + 3 chaps of manga, 1.5 books (total of 450 pages plus? ish?), 7(!) eng books, and made solid progress on my 龍が如く backlog, finishing one game and getting a little over halfway through another.
smashed my eng book goal, which is great, but reading the psycho-pass novelisations ended up taking a lot more time and effort than i was expecting. i’m also falling into a bad habit of sort of scanning my way through nhk articles rather than reading them in as much depth as i should. really need to fix that but haven’t found a good way yet
see you all next time! i say, as i continue to lurk
一瞬を生きる君を is getting very good. Couldn’t stop myself from reading it which is always a great sign. Finishing it tomorrow is probably a stretch, but it depends whether I’m busy in the evening. If I’m not, I might just be able to get it done.
Today was about the perfect studying day. Textbook study for 2 or 3 hours featuring grammar points which I then saw immediately in what I was reading, got to spend about an hour and a half straight talking casually in Japanese with some teachers, got some future book recommendations from the librarian, reading for 2 and a bit hours, and watching TV for maybe 2 hours. Absolutely nothing gets my Japanese confidence going like being able to make myself properly understood in Japanese in a conversation (with help from whoever I’m speaking to sometimes of course), given it often feels so hard. Tomorrow won’t be as good as today. But there’ll be more days like this!
Finally picking back horimiya! but I also added Ruri Dragon to the reading, it seemed interesting and surely enough its funny and engaging, it has 2 volumes with a new volume releasing soon so I’ll probably be continuing to read it!
I noticed that I read much much faster now but still, horimiya is a bit difficult it has much more conversations than from happiness so it’ll probably take me a few days to adjust properly.
Manga today! One chapter of ふらいんぐうぃっち and one chapter of 恋より青く. I want to finish some volumes before the start of the next challenge. Currently reading 9 volumes of manga and 2 books according to Natively. That’s a little too much!
Heya !
It’s still early March so I’m jumping on the read-wagon challenge !
Deciphering bit by bit ひぐらしのなく頃に (first arc) Visual Novel.
So far in the last two months I went through the introduction video and the first intro scene.
I’m right at the start of scene two (with the MC name drop )
Aiming for 2/3 sentences a day to test the water this month.
I paused just before the つづく in 逆転裁判 so plunged on forward, some IRL stuff was happening so I didn’t get a completely focused reading session but I’m fairly certain I understood most of what was going on. Cleared one piece of witness testimony and unlocked the next. Closing in on the 真犯人… so close…
Nearly finished 自称悪役令嬢な契約者, really enjoying it, just wish it wasn’t quite so difficult. Will have to circle back around in a few months and see if I’m ready for it. Just the omakes left.
Way, way too tired to read properly this evening, so leaving the novel for (hopefully) finishing off tomorrow. Also didn’t even consider trying to work through 風立ちぬ while in such a zombie-like state. Instead, I got through アオノハコ 1. Obsessed with the anime at the moment, but the manga’s expensive, coupled with looking like such a slow burn, so I don’t think I’ll carry on past volume 1 for now. I’ve got other manga I need to get through first.
Speaking of which I’ll be getting most of the volumes of ホリミヤ I don’t already have soon, so those will be getting done this month hopefully, as my designated comfort manga of choice.
Now time to sleep about 3 hours earlier than usual so I can hopefully sort myself out for tomorrow.
Today was a little read, felt kinda tired today and in general I spent a lot of time deciphering sentences, I need to increase my vocabulary.
Ruri dragon is so far pretty interesting, very amusing, I’m curious to see where it develops to in the future.
Lots of time to read today! 3000 characters of Aokana VN, one chapter of 恋より青く, one chapter of 作りたい女と食べたい女 and 3 (short) chapters of 事情を知らない転校生がグイグイくる。I really like how the characters in 作りたい女と食べたい女 are women, not high school girls. Really enjoying this series, even though it’s a little harder than what I’m used to!
Finished reading Chapter 35 of デスノート Even though it took a while to finish (1,5 hours to be exact), I actually felt pretty comfortable reading it. That’s a good sign I guess.
I know it doesn’t mean much, but I’m kinda happy about it I remember when I tried the N5 sample test after a month of learning Japanese, and I couldn’t understand anything at all. Also, I was surprised that I could do the listening exercises, because I never listen to Japanese, I only focus on reading for now. I made two mistakes because I didn’t understand some vocab.
I still have a long journey ahead of me, but it’s nice to see that there was some improvement because I think it’s hard to realize that you’re making any progress when you’re at the beginner stage and you’re reading things at a snail’s place. Looking forward to improving more
