Home Post – 2月23日
薬屋のひとりごと 6: 28.33% → 43.98%, 3h35m
Finished two long chapters. Even though Maomao doesn’t like Lakan, I like him, and it was sad to know that his wife has died. And I’m glad that he is back to normal. I was afraid that the influence of his father will be bigger, but fortunately the problem settled down quite peacefully. And the development around a lean year is nice. I like that this story is versatile and not straightforward.

- Back into 逆転, was feeling groggy when I started so decided not to look up too much as I was going and… did pretty well? Had to tear myself away to catch my train to work, which is a good sign. Nearly done with Trial part 2 I think, might not even need to present any more evidence for the next part.
- Finished the third story for 少女漫画じゃない, it’s very satisfying to fly through this though what actually happens is very… light and almost more in line with a gag manga than anything else.

Have now finished all available 15 volumes of よつばと and will have to wait until the last volume is published later this month to finish the series 〜 待ちきれないなぁ ！

Weekly Read-Along update
aha, i missed another week my bad. On SR I caught up with Yuyu’s Podcast and decided to start the Jam Maker for the days when I dont have Yuyu to read. Its very quaint and I like it so far, lots of vivd descriptions and I can see myself getting peckish when I read it. I’m enjoying the Summer Short Stories too, quite fun looking at things from the perspective of a cicida.
I’m also reading Maison Ikkoku still, on Vol 4 rn and still enjoying it, its quite a fun little story to follow along. I’m still doing the English first, Japanese after simply bc I think the level is just above my grade but I can still learn a lot of interesting little words and grammar from it!

Finished 2nd and final volume of ノルウェイの森. Wrote more about it in my study log so won’t replicate here.
Other than that, just bits and pieces. Don’t really know what happened today, suddenly it’s just over. Ah well. I did a little bit of lots of different things after finishing the book pretty early on.
Moving forwards, I’m not sure what’s going to be the next book I’ll put a concerted effort towards. I’m going to finish お探し物 soon as I’m now in the last chapter of 5, but other than that, I’ll have to pick one of my currently outstanding books to focus on. Maybe 本好き, but it takes quite a lot of lookups still due to the setting. I’ll have to think about it.

Finished reading both volumes of 月の影 影の海 from the 十二国記 series. The character arc of the main character was so gritty and emotional. The worldbuilding is expansive and made me crave for more. So excited to start reading the next book, 風の海 迷宮の岸.

psycho-pass continues to be difficult but there’s more dialogue now which is helping. big blocks of technical prose are…a challenge, let’s say. it’s definitely the most difficult thing i’m reading atm, even more than ishin with all its historical terms. did a bit more of リアル too, i remember more of it now but i’ll finish the volume anyway

- Finally wrapped trial part 2 for 蘇る逆転, getting to the real juicy stuff now. It was a straight run to the end (of the chapter), so just pure reading, but that’s fine by me.
- On a similar note I… wrapped one of the stories in 少女マンガじゃない in a day. I keep bouncing back and forth on what I think about it - it’s very much a comedy or gag manga kind of series where stuff kinda just happens for no reason, except I’m reading it, which feels… really weird. Like I’m reading a lolrandom book or a bunch of shitposts. But consequentially it’s (relatively) easy, so maybe it’s the ol difficulty->reward ratio striking again. Anyway, I shouldn’t get too snooty about it, since there’s still loads of words I don’t know.
