綾小路 is really astute about people in this book, which is … exactly my kind of YA lol. something something the fantasy of having a deep understanding of everyone around you. in the anime, if i recall, in the end 櫛田 (directed by 綾小路) gets and distributes last year’s midterm to the class which is ultimately what saves everybody (well with an asterisk, but we’re getting fairly spoilery here lol)… i’m curious if that is how things play out here, since it seems like for the moment everybody is gonna try again with the 勉強会
I realized that without my really noticing, my kanji knowledge has made it so i’m (sometimes) only looking up a couple words per page, which is a great feeling. strange too to sometimes be like “well, i have a vibe of the word but let me confirm”.
at one point 堀北 says that during class you really only need to take one page of notes, 精々 two, and i was like “well, if i ran the zoo, that word would be pronounced せいぜい and would mean ‘at most’” and behold, i was right.
