yes, with instant lookups on digital it is a lot easier but i do find myself doing this a lot, but it’s all part of the process… i hope

Yes definitely, when I’m reading physical books if I think I know a word I’ll likely just move on unless I’m really not sure on the reading. But as you say, I guess it is all part of the process!

Yes, I think it’s normal to double check readings of words you feel like you know. I’ve had this a lot in the beginning. Sometimes it still happens, but more so with semi-frequent(?) words.

Glad to know, and yes I’m very much thinking of this stage in my learning as a mass vocab acquisition phase. Basically read lots and lots

Maybe next time you won’t look up 暗闇 anymore like you probably don’t look up other words you are 100% sure about. At least that how I rationalize it for myself

little bits of everything. i know the longer i put off going back to deer king the harder it’s going to be to get back into it but other stuff keeps coming up there was also a printing error in the vocab book (the meanings from an earlier vocab table was repeated for a different text) which caused some brief confusion.

I skipped two days of the challenge because I had no time for anything other than WK and Anki, but hopefully I’ll be back on track now.

• A bit of メガネ忘れた before sleep. Text is too bloody small at this quality level, can’t read the furigana…
• Started the next Frieren, just rolling gently along… this really is one of the perfect beginner fantasy series to read imho because it’s so slow and chill most of the time, but contains interesting vocab you might not come across elsewhere (it’s surprisingly useful for geographical features I find since they’re always going to some valley or gorge or whatever)

31st july

today wasn’t super focused but i did do some reading. the 学(まな)ぼう！textbook isn’t shaping up to be very helpful for where i’m at and what i need, which is a shame. i can see it being very helpful in a classroom setting or for groups tho (preferably with a native speaker). i’ll do as much of it as i can but i’ll be skipping around so my page count won’t be accurate.

・30 pages of 17歳のラリー, finishing the book!

It was so good. My favorite chapters were 1 (his doubles partner) and 5 (部長でライバル), but the others were good too. I’m not even disappointed we didn’t get Yuugo’s POV.

Gah, I was hoping I could finish this book by the end of July. But that’s not happening. I must sleep.

Finished the final Chapter of Nekopara Volume 2 The total time was 13,6 hours.

And, started playing Nekopara Volume 3. I played for an hour (though in reality, I wasted half an hour trying to get Textractor to work correctly, which I didn’t manage to do anyway).

I’d totally play more today, If it wasn’t for the fact that I have to wake up for an early shift tomorrow I hate those.
