About the onomatopea, it looks like the cicada’s in summer haha
Looking this up to confirm my knowledge:
There are multiple types of onomatopea in Japanese, 擬声語、擬音語、擬態語.
There are different onomatopea (擬音語) for different cicadas. This one in particular is for ミンミンゼミ, which I feel like is the most commonly portrayed in media but I could be wrong.
Finally getting into the fourth and final case of 逆転裁判2… it’s going to be a long one. I had completely forgotten this setup part of it… but at least talked to two people and basically understood what was going on. I think the crime has already occured, but I haven’t met the defendant yet.
Waaaahh, I bake a fair amount of bread but even I haven’t tried panettone yet :0 :0 and vegan at that!! Looks amazing! (also what color is your ankarsrum )
I’ve been doing about 14 pages a day, which comes out to a chapter every three days, but I think I’m going to try to go up to 20 pages a day (chapter / two days).
Take your time, no rush. You are doing well!! Yea there is such a delicate balance that’s really hard to follow but I’m still just reading without looking stuff up. My comprehension is definitely better now I don’t have trouble with the grammar it’s just there are so many vocab words I don’t know so that is the hardest part
Thank you!
I love baking and it all started from.. my love for pizza It always starts somewhere! So just give baking another shot if you feel like it and don’t get discouraged when things don’t go as planned
I will! Unfortunately, it was only the trial version that I’ve read which only contained the first two chapters. I’ll have to wait until my next Japan order (maybe in late April or early May) until I get to continue, but I think I’ll order all 5 volumes at once then
Thanks! And I see you’re a true connoisseur if you know an Ankarsrum Do you have one, too? Mine’s a matte dark blue
Another super busy day, but still got some reading in this afternoon. Probably spent way too long stuck deciphering the page I stopped yesterday on before admitting I wasn’t getting anywhere. I still understood the gist of what happened and it wasn’t that important anyway, so I just moved on. Sometimes ya gotta let it go…
Finished my presentation for tomorrow night, so hoping I still have some energy to get more reading in tomorrow after the presentation itself.
Oh yes, most certainly! Cicadas are mentioned in the next panel and it’s an emphasis on being summertime. I was mostly just remarking on how scratchy and angular the characters look out of context.
I have actually made pizza from scratch several times! I had a nice few month stretch where I made dough regularly using an okay but simple recipe. I need to find a good recipe that balances quality with already having too many time intensive hobbies, hah!
This short story has a lot more description, which is good to imagine the scene but I’ve been finding challenging because I think I haven’t been exposed to this kind of text. Most of my exposure to Japanese comes from drama, anime and tv programs where descriptions aren’t as long and deep. The closest would probably be a narrator describing a character’s state of mind or a situation, or maybe a lawyer/detective describing a case? This is good and I’m learning new things
I also feel like my reading speed is a bit faster than before. Some parts trip me up sometimes when words and grammar structures are one after another in kana, I’m not used to some of these so I’m not used to seeing where a word stops and another begins.
おしどり
Complete! This one was tiny, only a few paragraphs long. About Mandarin ducks! With most of the story centering around a female Mandarin duck - wild coincidence since I’m drawing one at the moment
Thank you for pointing that out! I copied old calendars to make an easy copy/paste doc for any month and I totally forgot to check that. I’ll fix it now.
