I slept well today, so had a bunch of studying (not only grammar). However, I feel that I’m starting getting tired of preparation to the exam. The good thing is that I’m close to finishing the books, but I’ll still need to repeat everything to make it stick in the upcoming weeks. I wish the exam finished sooner ![]()

・39 pages of 猫とメガネ 蔦屋敷の不可解な遺言, reading ch 1 and leaving off on pg 46
“Oh, the MC is in high school? I hope the prince is also a teenager, but I don’t know how high those hopes ar— Ah, it’s turned into rape before he’s even shown up. Lovely. So much for this book seeming cute.”
I really, really need to learn to read the previews of things when Bookmeter has them.
The MC gets isekaid trying to rescue a kitten from getting run over. Once he properly makes it into the other world, he’s inside what sounds like a human-sized egg, which he manages to break out of, and he’s entirely naked. He’s surrounded by a bunch of chanting men, who refer to him as the child of god (神子, which is apparently another spelling of 巫女 [みこ], but the way they use it, it definitely seems to mean “神の子” and not “shrine maiden”) and say they need to get him ready to meet the prince, and then they proceed to physically restrain him, drug him to make him pliant and un/less able to struggle, and shove a long eyedropper filled with presumably oil or something else to act as lube up his ass. And that’s as far as I got. Even if the prince is an age-appropriate love interest for a 16/17-y.o., even if the prince doesn’t rape him, I still. kind of really don’t want to read that.
Oogh, I really feel the MC. When you’re autistic, people always want you to think how other people (they) feel and be understanding, but they never extend you the same courtesy. You’re not normal, so until you make yourself so, until you start operating on the same set of rules as normal people, you/your feelings don’t matter. They want you to work with them but refuse to work with you and always work against you, because a normal person wouldn’t struggle with that! A normal person would just be able to do it, or would be unable to in an acceptable way, and since you can’t in an unacceptable way, well obviously that actually means you’re refusing to do it out of spite or because you can’t be bothered or what-have-you. I don’t have to consider what makes sense to you, but you always have to consider what makes sense to me. Doesn’t matter that you’re trying; you’re not succeeding, or aren’t succeeding to their arbitrary standards, and so it’s meaningless. They won’t recognize it. You aren’t doing it or saying it “the right way,” so they’re committed to misunderstanding you and getting mad at you and punishing you until you do it “the right way.”
(“Do or do not. There is no try.” I’ve always hated that line. Fuck off. All the effort I put into something isn’t worth one whit unless I 100% succeed? Fuck. Off. Just because I haven’t found something that reliably works doesn’t mean I’m not trying. Just because I can’t function on the level of a neurotypical person doesn’t mean I’m not fucking trying.)
And I’m. kind of afraid that this book won’t be kind/understanding. That it’ll be “people with these things wrong with them need to make themselves normal/meet the rest of us where we are” instead of “both sides should work together and meet in the middle.” I guess we’ll see. Because while some of the things he said/thought were wrong, the rest was logical/reasonable/understandable, but the guy whom I’m p sure is the deuteragonist (both MCs have glasses, and he has glasses and doesn’t feel like a one-off character) was essentially like, “Literally everything you said was wrong, your wife was well within her rights to not be understanding of you but you need to be understanding of her,” and he’s set up to be, like, the voice of reason when the MC thinks he’s being reasonable/logical but isn’t really, so. :/
Yeah. Guess we’ll see.

Congrats! That’s awesome
Thank you! Feeling pretty pleased, but I don’t think it was a difficult book.

And complete!
Interesting little story. It didn’t go in the direction I thought it would at all.
Finished 血の轍, absolutely flew through the last 2-3 volumes, in part because I was engrossed and in part because of the minimalistic writing style (a couple chapters have literally a single line or no dialogue at all, which hits quite hard)
Incredible manga, really heavy and full of symbolism. I’ll be thinking of it for a good while, some parts hit really hard even if I luckily haven’t been in the same situation as the protagonist.
Really approachable in terms of language because the author prefers to let the (incredible) art tell the story, but definitely not a light read.
Knowing that it’s also heavily inspired by past events in the author’s life, not quite autobiographical but “kinda”, makes it also hit quite differently. It definitely feels like this work was his own way of dealing with his past.
What to read now…
November 17
I played a bit 英雄伝説 碧の軌跡. Back to doing quests and other minor things. Hoping that the story will pick up soon. Not that I have a problem doing things like quests but I prefer the main story.

Didn’t think I’d manage to finish book today. Things got very interesting at the end and before I knew it I reached the atogaki. Almost gave this book just 4 stars on natively, but it’s because I’m in a bad mood over silly stuff at work. This book deserves better. Hmm, maybe I’m hesitating to give it 5 stars because I’ve been in a reading slump lately too. 4.5 stars then.
Edit: I say ‘reading slump’ when in reality I ended up spending 7 days to read this book and that feels like a long time. There was also a day where I didn’t read anything, so 6 days in total.
Edit2: 322 pages in 6 days = ~53p/day. Hmm. No, that’s not right. I read 145 pages on Sunday. So 35p/day the other days. That’s where the reading slump comes from. もっと読める! ![]()
