I took sometime away from wakikani and I’ve come back and been doing some homework looking at the radicals and kanji I’ve learnt before I dive back into to my mountain of reviews.
From what I can tell so far some radical names and descriptions have changed… for example: the ‘Pile’ radical is now called ‘Private’ and ‘Enclosure’ is now ‘Prison’.
I’ve got these to enlightened so when they come back around again will the old name still be a correct answer or do I have to go back and learn the new names? NGL its frustrated me quite a bit.
But a short answer to your specific question is that your old answers will still be marked correct (there is a hidden whitelist covering the old radical names).
There is also a ‘tool’ accessible via the menu in WK which will let you explicitly relearn any radicals which have changed, should you want to (personally I’m doing a mix depending on how obvious the change is / how much I like the radical / how close to burning it I am).
I recommend re-learning them. It won’t take too long and there’s not that many. Also, there is a list somewhere of what Kanji have changed to the On’Yomi reading. They aren’t marked as changed so they will trip you up in reviews. There’s just a few and at level four it should be easy to learn the new meaning. “Stone” is one of them.
