the missing eyes on my read through a few weeks ago (I stopped at the end of chapter 21).
To be honest I wonder if it’s just meant to show her face is in shadow. Definitely the case in the second instance, not so much in the first.
What I did notice looking back through is the number of instances where one character has one eye covered. Often by a speech bubble or being cut off the frame. I don’t know if that’ll end up having any significance.
Wow, I didn’t expect クロネ to just be done dirty like that. Kinda makes it hard to expect that it will go any better for the children, this world is savage
I was going write some incriminating but I noticed my mistake before doing so. I might have finished the volume by accident. I probably didn’t register the chapter change because I’m reading so late again (almost 3 now)
Now I need to wait ages for the next chapter! Maybe I’ll do some lessons to keep me busy.
Ah, yes. This is the chapter where things suddenly turned real dark. Yeah, characters dying is one thing - you can’t motivate a protagonist without breaking a few NPCs, after all. But having the antagonist just straight-up break the protagonist’s leg with her hands, entirely on-panel? That’s definitely a turn of events.
Yes, a dark turn this week. I also enjoyed Isabella breaking character for the first time with the children and speaking openly with them. I like how she recognised the importance of this moment herself and greeted them both with a はじめまして!
This is one of those stories where the characters’ situation seems completely hopeless. Even more so now Emma has a broken leg. One of the children’s strengths was their vigour and athleticism - injuring Emma is an excellent strategy for foiling her escape without compromising the quality of her as food. It’s going to be fun to see how the story moves on from here.
