Once she falls asleep (which looks like it’ll be soon), 気になってる人が男じゃなかった has a chance!

My constant searching has finally paid off. Volume two of 気になってる人が男じゃなかった is finally listed on Amazon for February 27th. Perfect timing to read the first volume in a book club!
My gosh, they’re neck and neck
I love Frieren but queer romance!! Changed my vote. Sorry best elf girl

3%'s better than any irl election I participate in lol
I wasn’t planning on voting since I’m not sure I’ll join for the next book club (and well, I’ve read both Frieren and 気になってる人が男じゃなかった) but I’m holding myself back not to vote for 気になってる
I’ve nominated it to other book clubs in the past and it’s never won… maybe this time!
I would really appreciate it if someone could advertise the poll in the currently ongoing book clubs, IBC, ABBC etc. ![]()
I’ve just nudged the ABBC ![]()
Done for the IBC ![]()
Frieren looks cool but had to go for 気になってる人が男じゃなかった, would def. join the next BBC if something I’m interested in wins!
Looks like the power of a great mage who has been training for a thousand years is nothing compared to the power of lesbian rock
I haven’t voted, because I don’t think I’m actually ready to step up from ABBC to BBC. I will say that Frieren looks really interesting, but I’m quite daunted by the 3.00 difficulty reading. 気になってる人が男じゃなかった might be more manageable.
Definitely has much more everyday vocabulary, fantasy settings tend to come with a fair bit of setting-specific and less common vocab. You do get used to it, but it will ramp up the difficulty especially in the beginning.
As long as you intend to try to read it with the club, feel free to vote for any book you’re interested in!
The tricky thing I found for reading more and more challenging works is that the first few pages are normally the hardest, so I’d encourage just keep going. It can help to have an easy read and a challenging read on the go at the same time for this (a difference of 5-10 points on the Natively scale). Then you constantly push your capabilities while also having a comfortable read, too.
Regarding these two picks and their difficulty level, on Natively these two manga are close in score, 24 and 25, with enough gradings for that to be reasonably accurate. So while we can expect Frieren to be a little bit harder, it’s not as much as the WK vote makes it look.
So what’s going on with the wildly different WK score for these two picks, 1.88 and 3?
Well, considering the full work score (Natively) is close and the impressions score (WK) is wildly different, then my prediction is 気になってる人 will be a bit easier than Frieren, but harder than it initially looks, and Frieren will be a bit easier than it looks, probably 1-2 chapters in after getting settled in the world.
On the other hand, the school romance genre/ setting seems to be really popular in the ABBC and BBC. I guess another explanation is that manga in that setting will be more familiar and therefore easier to most WK readers scoring stuff.
Also consider chapter length. 4 page chapters are a lot easier to digest even if the overall page count is similar
Yeah good point, if you can digest each section/arc in a shorter time period that makes a big difference
