Does anyone know some good light novels which are not about isekai or fantasy?
Anything about romance, friendship, school and similar topics would be great.
At the moment I’m reading さよならピアノソナタ which I find great, but I would preffer something which doesn’t focus too much on such a specific topic.

I think they’re technically light bungei rather than light novels (though they’re the same thing, really), but I’ve loved everything by 天沢夏月 so far. My top ones currently are:
- DOUBLES!! —ダブルス— - Amasawa-sensei’s sole series, at 5 volumes long. It’s a tennis series which follows 凸凹コンビ Kakeru and Takuma through their three years of high school
- 吹き溜まりのノイジーボーイズ - Aki, who hasn’t been able to let go of music despite her attempt at starting a brass band resulting in failure, is tasked by her homeroom teacher with teaching a group of delinquent boys music. There’s a little bit of romance, but it’s not the focus
- 21グラムのタイムトラベラー - On the way to school one day, Subaru meets a young woman who claims to be a ghost from the future, who warns him not to become friends with the new transfer student or she’ll only get hurt later on. But he’s not the type to ignore when someone’s hurting now if there’s anything he can do about it, and he ends up befriending her anyway. This one’s 100% a romance. I cried a li’l at the ending, tbh. It’s so good
