I don’t mind the mention, though not sure how we do a degen book club when it’s in degen and there are 2 of us but im kinda new. I’ll leave it to someone with experience like yourself to figure out how to recruit there. I already got the vocab thingy figured out and you pinned it so now it just needs members. But even if it’s tough, I don’t mind having only 2 of us either. Though would certainly be more fun if there are more.
and that book should arrive on Monday
I get you. I guess my biggest worry is about my ability to time commit.
I’ll try to think more about everything and post in the thread later.
if is a small group then you’ll be even under more pressure to read or else!!!
the beatings will continue until moral improves (or you finish the book)
technically you already read 1 ch ahead anyway didn’t you
Love of music unites the four members of the band Given: hotheaded guitarist Uenoyama, playboy drummer Akihiko, gentle bassist Haruki, and Mafuyu, a singer gifted with great talent and burdened by past tragedy. Their struggles and conflicts may drive them apart, but their bond to the music—and to one another—always brings them back together again.
Ritsuka Uenoyama is bored with it all—with school, with his basketball club, and even with his one true passion: playing guitar. That is, until the day he finds his favorite hidden napping spot occupied by a strange boy cradling a broken-stringed guitar. At first, Uenoyama is nonplussed by Mafuyu Sato and his slightly odd behavior, but when, on a whim, he asks Mafuyu to sing, the power of that song pierces him to the core.

Then, and only then, the world melts away, and he can be his true self. One day, while out shopping, Ryo sees someone he didn’t expect: Jin. Yutaka, a salary man, is not good at eating with others due to an incident in his childhood. He always eats alone, and his menu consists of homemade bomb-size rice balls and supermarket side dishes. One day, as usual, when he’s about to eat lunch at the park, a kid, Tane, asks for Yutaka’s rice ball, so he gives it to him. The next day, Tane and his older brother - Minoru came to apologize, but due to Tane said that Yutaka’s rice balls were too delicious, Minoru asked Yutaka to teach him how to make rice balls. Although his mind was disconcerted, Yutaka still paid a visit to their house. The 3 are making rice balls and eating together.
My husband is (単身赴任) Tanshin Funin, meaning he lives and works in another city, so I usually live alone with our two sons. Maybe we’re idiots, but we have two really good kids.
I sometimes wonder if my oldest son, Hiroki, likes another boy. I think he tries to hide it, but sometimes it’s pretty obvious. I haven’t talked to him about it yet, but all I can think is, my son is honest and so cute, and he’s probably gay.
Momo Makimura, a graduate student, has someone she cannot forget. She is Midori-chan, a girl with a mysterious charm whom she dated when she was a high school girl. Her secret letter and nail polish of the same color… I thought our relationship would last forever, but on the day of my high school graduation, Midori-chan said, “Let’s compete to see who can get a boyfriend first!” Ta. Makimura is trapped in her lost love, but one day, he happens to meet Midori-chan again at her workplace…! ?
i randomly read かけおちガール in english just the other day, and i really have to recommend it. i’ve very rarely read anything which felt so real.

Next book has been chosen by one vote I think! We’re a very divided club as far as tastes go lol. Only one more than half of the voters to win. Starts 10/14 so order you books now if you need a physical copy!
welp, well have I ever! xD might join, then
looking forward to reading that ^^ it’s been on my list for a while now
Hey! I think I’ll be able to join in for this book. It’ll probably be a bit above my current level but I really really love the premise, so I’d want to read it at some point anyway. This’ll be my first book club (except for the Dictionary of Basic Japanese Grammar hahaha)
Been there as well. Gotta jump in sometime. Unfortunately, nothing is really ever your perfect level. Just have to keep jumping in a little above your level. Let us know if you have any questions.
lesbian grandmas? count me in
Sorry I’m new around here and trying to figure my way around! I’m not sure my reading level is high enough but I’d love to join. Is there a call or discord to join or do people start to leave comments on the thread on that day?
Technically, there should be a separate thread created for it, but yes, people would just start posting there.
Once the thread is made, there will be a link to it in the post at the top.
I’m glad you know what’s going on! lol. I guess I should get on that ね.
I just noticed we’re supposed to start はなものがたり this weekend @amagi are you the one hosting the club or is it whoever nominated it (I don’t remember who it was )
definitely not me, I just threw in some suggestion, didn’t even plan for it to be a nomination or anything, that just happened. It’s not even sure I’ll join
Sorry!
Book’s thread is started
