Now that’s how you’re supposed to do it! You could learn something from them @sakaijin . Order restored ![]()
Just realized that I’m able to edit the original post myself
Had no idea… Live and learn
Added myself, too ![]()
Yeah, they definitely do progress and build on each other! There’s a couple of curve ball episodes I’ve come across but in general I think it’s really good progression. And I found the other one through one of the tofugu resource lists I think - they can have some fun slightly off the wall things sometimes.
It’s been a while since I’ve posted here, but I read through the backlog and I want to start talking to everyone here a bit more!
Hearing you guys talk about podcasts is nice. I’d love to start listening to one, but as a college student who’s out of work right now, my spare cash is… basically non-existent. It’s a lot for me to even scrounge up the 10 bucks for WaniKani lmao!
All the podcasts I mentioned are free! Listen away - you just need to add them to whatever podcast app you use ![]()
Oh shoot; I guess I have no excuse to start then!
It feels kind of weird; listening is definitely my best developed skill in Japanese, when it tends to be the worse in other languages I’ve tried learning (Korean/French.) Not to say it’s perfect or anything, but it’s funny how different languages change which skills develop the quickest.
I can’t understand those podcasts yet, so, for now, I prefer to hear some japanese music while doing housework.
Good to know
Listening from episode 1 definitely made sense.
#244よんじゅうさんとうのマンモス!(The best song to learn how to count in Japanese)
I have to say, this is probably my favorite episode so far :'D
And I was wondering why I suddenly got likes on week old posts ! ![]()
Glad you feel like including yourself more ~
wait…you haven’t listened from 1-244 already have you? The episodes are short but that would still be quite something! And I hadn’t heard that song yet but it’s certainly memorable!
Noo, I haven’t gotten quite that far ![]()
I like listening to stuff during my morning runs, so I started downloading all the episodes. That’s when I came across that one.
There is the YouTube playlist of the podcast that comes with auto-generated subtitles. Obviously not very practical unless you want to look up one specific thing ![]()
I’m gonna try not to care if I don’t understand something, but it’s still hard on me ![]()
In case anyone cares, here’s that one lengthy line from the intro, which really bothered me that I didn’t understand it ![]()
日本語学習者の皆さんをいつも応援するポッドキャスト。
This is probably more viable for single words that you don’t know, but you could try using voice input in most translator apps when you hear something you don’t understand. I have set siri to japanese on my phone and I often ask it to translate a word to english
It is actually super convenient and it works nearly every time (bar pronunciation flaws on my part or there being other indentical sounding words)
Could I join despite my meager level? ![]()
You can edit the leaderboard in the topic (it’s a wiki) and add yourself! Welcome, and feel free to join the conversation any time ![]()
I think the first episode I listened to (a while back now) I couldn’t get much of that line at other than podcast and I thought he was saying that his name was Owen haha
Oooh cool idea! I turned voice controls off on my phone because they kept on coming on half way through pimsleur lessons and starting to read me the Wikipedia entries of random Japanese places that the example sentences mentioned but maybe I should turn them back on to try that!
Ahhh haha I can see how that could be annoying
There is probably a setting somewhere which will make it so it doesn’t activate unless you physically press a button or something?
Thanks for the advice! ![]()
@sycamore You absolutely knocked it out of the park with your Nihongo con Teppei recommendation! I’m starting from the top and I am loving it already. I was even doing the dishes while listening and understanding what he was saying. I love how he repeats the topic over and over so you can’t help but remember what it’s about haha! I can’t believe people offer this stuff free of charge! Teppeiさんは天使ですね lol
