Hey,

I am basically only “active” in this thread, so I hope it is okay, if I give a little status update on my self.

I started to actively learn kanji again around summer this year and since then, I passed seven levels. I know, that’s pretty slow for many of the users here, but with all I have to do in my life, I can’t go as fast anymore. With no more than 120 apprentice level items Wanikani feels again like something I want to do and not something I have to do.

Right now I’m focusing more on understanding grammar, even though that’s not as easy for me. I’m using Genki, Bunpro and some YouTube channels, but I’ve anyone has more tips, I’m open to try them as well.

Anyways, thanks for this thread, it encourages me to work hard on what I want to achieve. Seeing that it’s not a lonely road, bur many people take it helps tremendously. So, thank you!

Well, this is a pleasant view, if I’d say.

Guess it was a neat idea to install timeline extension few days ago to predict this wave.

Ugh had terrible guru 2 review accuracy today. I think this may be my worst ever.

The kanji are just blurring together…

That’s a pretty good burn rate! I just burned a whopping 7 out of 15 :joy:
… how should I know after 4 months 委員会 is “committee” and not “meeting”

I love the way this word being introduced. Usually we have some 会社 which is company, and then derived 会社員 who is a worker of said company. Or some 魚屋 which again uses special suffix 屋 to narrow more general term down to certain store.
This time we rather have 委員 who is committe member, and then committee itself being derived from it becoming “gathering of members of committee”.

Let me have a try. Specifically this precise term is turbo-tight bound with anime production. Like, it’s literally presents in each and every single OP/ED of every single anime series and describe all the companies involved in production of said series. So this may help if you carefully read subtitles before and familiar with nuance they mostly refer such gathering of companies as committee.

That is, if you are into anime stuff at all, to begin with. Otherwise my bad, I just gave a try.

Mostly you can read something like this in subtitles before:

Yup, I rarely watch anime, but thanks for the hint. I recognize 制作 from japanese movie openings, but I never noticed 委員会.

What YouTube channels have you been watching lately? I’ve been using Bunpro, but YouTube has mostly been “miss” on the hit-or-miss scale, haha.

Well, this should be interesting. Especially for me when I am starting this low down the tree. I’ll give it my damnedest shot though!

For grammar I’m watching Cure dolly, Sambon Juku and Japanese with Juku. They all have different styles, but in total, I like all of them and they help me understand difficult grammar points quite well.

For immersion I’m watching the ANN Channel or FNN Channel.
